Clippers vs. Pacers Preview

In today's NBA, no lead is safe and a perfect illustration of that was the first meeting between the Pacers and Clippers.

At the Intuit Dome, the Clippers jumped out to a 20-point lead in the first quarter. However, they were trailing by three by halftime and the Pacers would go on for a 119-112 victory. Indiana has now won and covered in four of the last six meetings.

In that game, the Pacers were 5.5-point underdogs on the road. However, they are favored by 3.5 points for today's matchup. They enter this game having won seven of their last 10 games. In that span, they are eighth in offensive rating and 10th in net rating.

The Pacers are ninth in scoring offense (116.2 PPG) this season and have six double-digit scorers. They are also fifth in assists (28.9 APG) per game. Tyrese Haliburton leads the way at 8.5 assists per game and ranks sixth in the NBA.

Haliburton had 14 points and eight assists in the first meeting against the Clippers. In that game, Pascal Siakam and Bennedict Mathurin combined for 58 points and they may have similar success today.

Meanwhile, the Clippers have split their last 10 games. Prior to the All-Star break, they defeated the Jazz in overtime to begin their road trip.

Heading back East, they fell to Milwaukee on Thursday and tonight's game is the first of a back-to-back as they will be in Detroit tomorrow night. As such, Kawhi Leonard (foot soreness) and Norman Powell (knee soreness) are questionable for today's game.

As of this writing, James Harden's props are unavailable, but he is averaging 21.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 9.7 assists in February. He had 22 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists against the Pacers and has usually hit eight assists this season.

Clippers vs. Pacers Prediction

Now 15-5 since the start of the new year, the Pacers have racked up impressive wins over the Heat, Suns, Cavaliers, Pistons (2x), Spurs, Grizzlies, and Clippers. However, they are better at home as they are 15-8 straight up compared to 15-14 again.

They have won two of the last three against the Clippers in Indiana and the Clippers may be without Powell for the second straight game and resting Leonard ahead of the back-to-back. With that in mind, I like the Pacers to win by at least four points at home today.

With Clippers' props limited, I am going all-Pacers for today's same-game parlay. Siakam has been held to 15 and 16 points in his last two games, but he has still scored 20 points in seven of his last 10 games. Against the Clippers, he has scored 20 points in six straight games, going for 25+ in five of them.

Mathurin has also enjoyed playing the Clippers. He has scored 15 points in three straight meetings, including 59 points combined in the last two matchups. He has scored 15 points in five straight games as well, which he has covered whether or not Rick Carlisle starts him or brings him off the bench.

The Clippers allow 8.6 assists per game to point guards, which bodes well for Haliburton. He has recorded eight assists in eight of his last nine games against the Clippers. If he gets there again with a few each to Siakam and Mathurin, this parlay will cash.

Best Bet: Pacers -3.5 (-110)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • Pascal Siakam +20 Points
  • Bennedict Mathurin 15+ Points
  • Tyrese Haliburton 8+ Assists

Parlay Payout: +315
