Memphis Grizzlies vs. New York Knicks NBA Monday Preview

The Knicks and the Grizzlies face off on Monday night at the Garden in what should be a compelling matchup between two of the league's best teams. Let's dive into tonight's showdown in NYC.

The Grizzlies and the Knicks have had similar seasons with the Grizzlies at 31-15 compared to the Knicks at 30-16. The main difference lies in how they've gotten there.

The Grizzlies have a balanced attack with the fifth-best offense and defense, which is good for a +9.0 Point Differential (4th), per Cleaning the Glass.

The Knicks have done this with an overwhelming offense (121.7 – 2nd) and an average defense good for a +7.6 Point Differential (5th), per Cleaning the Glass.

There are two key edges in this game. The Knicks' transition offense against the Grizzlies' transition defense, and Memphis' 3-point shooting against the Knicks' perimeter defense.

The Grizzlies shoot about a league average amount of 3s, but they are primarily above the break. The Grizzlies shoot 37.8% from beyond the arc, the eighth-best mark in the league.

The Knicks allow their opponents to shoot the 3rd highest percentage on 3-point shots this season. This aligns well with Luke Kennard and Desmond Bane's shot profiles.

For the Knicks, they will need to attack Memphis in transition. While the Knicks do not push the Pace much, they are extremely effective when they operate in transition. They score the second most points per transition play with 1.34 points per play, per Cleaning the Glass.

The Grizzlies are below-average in this department allowing 1.24, the 18th mark in the league. Given OG's ability to kickstart those opportunities off of steals, he is someone to look for in this game.

Grizzlies vs. Knicks Best Bets, Predictions

This is a tough matchup, and while the Knicks may be able to take care of business and secure a home win, I'm not interested in laying points against a Memphis team that has been excellent ATS this season.

The Grizzlies are 30-14-2 ATS overall and 14-7-1 ATS on the road. Compare this to 22-22-2 for the Knicks and 11-10-2 at home.

Memphis has also been better in the advanced metrics, and I expect this to be a close game.

For my same game parlay, I'll grab Kennard 2+ Three-Pointers, Bane 2+ Three-Pointers, and OG 15+ Points.

Best Bet: Grizzlies +3.5 (-115)

Knicks vs. Grizzlies Parlay Picks

  • Luke Kennard 2+ Three-Pointers Made (-145)
  • Desmond Bane 2+ Three-Pointers Made (-250)
  • OG Anunoby 15+ Points (-135)

Parlay Payout: +275
