The Knicks are 8-point favorites over the Hawks on the spread (Knicks -8), with the over/under set at 240 total points. New York is a -340 favorite to win outright, while Atlanta is +270 to pull off the upset.

Hawks vs. Knicks Preview

The Knicks face off against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night after taking care of business against the Indiana Pacers yesterday. This matchup between the Knicks and the Hawks always seems to be a heated one, so let's dive in and see where the edge is.

The Knicks have not had to submit an injury report yet, but OG Anunoby (foot) missed Tuesday's game against the Pacers. Given the All-Star Break, I think he will not play in this one and will simply rest up for an extra week.

The Hawks will be missing a number of players, including Jalen Johnson (out for the season — shoulder), Vit Krejci (back) and Larry Nance (Knee), while Trae Young (Achilles) is also listed as probable.

This is a Hawks team that has also moved on from Bogdan Bogdanovic and De'Andre Hunter through trades. They have brought in Caris LeVert and Georges Niang, though, in those moves.

One player I expect to see on a continued run is rookie Zaccharie Risacher.

Risacher's minutes and usage have been inconsistent. However, the team needs to know what it has in the number 1 pick and should give him room to grow. He's averaging 11.3 ppg this season in 23.7 minutes.

He's played two games against the Knicks and scored 33 and 2 points. Notably, the game with 33 was without De'Andre Hunter — a known Knicks Killer.

Hunter was so successful because he was given looks on the perimeter, and the Knicks helped off of him. Without OG, this is something even more likely to happen.

Risacher is averaging 12.99 ppg without Hunter and Bogdanovic, and while LeVert and Niang can cut into his usage a bit, this is an ideal matchup against a Knicks team that might have some tired legs on a back-to-back. I will grab over 11.5 points.

The Knicks should be able to take care of business here. Brunson was in foul trouble last night, so he will be rested relative to his teammates for this one. The Knicks are 4-3 on zero days rest this season but just 2-5 ATS.

This has been a tougher matchup for them, too. They are 2-1 against the Hawks this season, with the Knicks' only cover being by the hook. My issue is that this Hawks team is missing crucial players in this spot, and Hunter's loss was significant. I have to consider the Knicks.

Hawks vs. Knicks Prediction

This spread is significant here, but the total is one that may be exploitable. The Hawks play at one of the fastest paces in the league. While the Knicks tend to play slower, their defense is bottom 10 in the league this season and missing Anunoby does not help with that. When the Knicks have played with zero days rest, the over is 6-1. Both the Knicks and the Hawks have been over teams as well, with a combined 62-44-1 record to the over. I'll bet on points here.

For an SGP, I will go back to Brunson to score 25+ and Risacher to score 15+.

Best Bet: Over 239.5 (-115)
