Heat vs. Pelicans Preview

I get it. the Pelicans have shut everyone down. I do, I understand it. But, this Heat team cannot be laying this many points.

Yes, the Heat still have playoff positioning to play for, and yes, the Pelicans are on a back-to-back. But I don’t know how you get this Heat team with this roster and this profile to be a 13-point favorite on the road vs. anyone.

The Pelicans still have some actual NBA players in the rotation. They’re not going to win this game. But also, this absolutely should not be Heat -14.5.

With Andrew Wiggins, the Heat are 1-4 ATS on the road. Their one cover was vs. the Raptors when they were 3.5-point favorites. Three and a half! Not thirteen!

The Heat are 5-9 ATS this season as a road favorite against teams with a worse winning percentage than them. It doesn’t even really matter who the Pelicans play or don’t play, though I like Bruce Brown, Yves Missi, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earle.

This is a play out of the principle of the matter.
