Hornets vs. Magic Preview
These are two of the worst offenses in the league right now. Charlotte's team total is 94.5 at some books, which is one of the lowest I've seen this season.
The full game total is down to 202 in some spots. I don't want to sweat garbage time, so I'm sticking to the 1st half line.
The Hornets (30th) and Magic (28th) are bottom-3 in 1st half scoring over the past 10 games.
The Hornets actually have a solid 114.6 offensive rating with LaMelo Ball on the floor this season, but it collapses to 104.4 with him on the bench. Ball is out tonight with an ankle injury.
The Magic finally got Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner back, but it hasn't saved their offense. They are dead last in offensive rating (105.7) since both players returned.
With both Banchero and Wagner on the floor this season (352 minutes), their offensive rating is an ugly 102.9.
Defensively, both of these teams have excelled. The Hornets are top 5 in points allowed over the past 10 games. Their defensive rating improves by 6.2 with Ball off the floor.
The Magic have been top-3 in defensive rating and points allowed per game all season. Both teams are bottom-8 in pace on the season and bottom-5 over the past 10 games. I'm expecting a rock fight here.

The Magic don't have enough offense to lay this big of a number and get away with it. That's been proven the past 10 times. Orlando is 1-9 ATS when laying three or more points.
Aside from Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, the Magic lack the offensive talent and have too many key injuries to cover large point spreads.

Orlando has failed to reach 100 points in four of its last seven games. More than one-third of the Magic's victories have been by fewer than six points.
I get that Charlotte is terrible. But the Hornets have a winning point spread record during their last 14 road games.
