Charlotte Hornets vs Portland Trail Blazers NBA Preview

The Charlotte Hornets and the Portland Trail Blazers will clash from Portland on Saturday Night. Charlotte begins the contest with a record of 14-40. That record has been one of the worst in the NBA.

Entering the season, the Hornets were expected to finish near the bottom of the East, and they have lived up to those expectations. The Hornets have struggled lately, losing eight of their last 10 games. Charlotte has not reached the postseason since 2016.

First-year Hornets head coach Charles Lee will attempt to turn around this franchise. Lee was the associate head coach for the Boston Celtics last season.

LaMelo Ball leads the Hornets with 27.3 points per game and 7.3 assists. Miles Bridges has averaged 20.2 points per game and 7.8 rebounds. Big man Mark Williams has added 15.3 points and a team-best 9.6 rebounds. The Hornets have averaged 106.3 points per game.

Portland begins the contest with a record of 23-33. That record has exceeded expectations.

Portland was supposed to be one of the worst teams in the West entering the year. The Blazers trail the final play-in spot in the Western Conference by five games.

The Trail Blazers were one of the hottest teams in the NBA a couple of weeks ago, but they have now lost four straight games.

Head coach Chauncey Billups' team has been above average playing on their home floor this season with a record of 15-14. Billups and the Blazers have not reached the postseason since 2021.

The Blazers last played on Thursday when they lost 110-102 against the Lakers.

Anfernee Simmons leads the team with 18.4 points per game. Former Kentucky standout Shaedon Sharpe has averaged 17.0 points and 2.5 assists. Deni Avdija has added 14.8 points and 6.3 rebounds. Portland has averaged 109.1 points per game on the season.

Best Bet: Trail Blazers ML (-205)
