Thursday night’s rematch of last year’s NBA Finals took an unfortunate turn when Denver’s star guard Jamal Murray was forced out of the game after spraining his ankle. He limped to the locker room late in the second quarter, and the team announced after halftime he wouldn't return.

Murray was injured pulling off a nifty assist. He drove to the hoop, sucking in three defenders as he dished the ball over his head to Nikola Jokić. However, he immediately stumbled and crashed to the ground before the ball even went through the hoop. He laid on the ground writhing in pain before eventually heading to the locker room.

Murray’s injury sucked the air out of the building after he earlier brought the crowd to its feet with an acrobatic buzzer beater to end the first quarter. He took the feed with six seconds to go and hit a 3 between two defenders to give Denver a 16-point lead.
