Kevin Durant has already been ruled out of Tuesday's Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals and is unlikely to be ready to play in Thursday's Game 2.
Durant has yet to see action since injuring his calf in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Houston Rockets and, at the very least, should miss the first two games against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Considering Golden State closed out Houston on the road in Game 6 of that series without Durant, many expect the Warriors to be just fine without KD.
Oddsmakers agree, opening the Warriors as 8-point favorites against the Trail Blazers for Game 1. As of writing, 80% of early money wagered has taken Portland, dropping the line to -7.5 at a handful of sportsbooks.
While among the best two or three players in the NBA, Durant is worth "only" three to four points to the spread according to Mike Young of CG Technology. This isn't a knock on KD, but more a compliment to the depth of Golden State as a whole.
The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas is offering Golden State as a -500 favorite to beat Portland in this series despite the uncertainty regarding Durant's availability going forward.
