The Sacramento Kings (0-1) visit the Los Angeles Lakers (2-0) on NBA Saturday, tipping off at 10:30 p.m. ET from Los Angeles California. The game is airing live on NBA TV and streaming on YouTube TV and other streaming apps.

The Lakers are 2-point favorites over the Kings on the spread (Lakers -2), with the over/under currently at 231.5 total points. The Lakers are -130 favorites on the moneyline to win outright, while the Kings are +105 to pull off the upset.

Let's dive into my Kings vs. Lakers predictions and NBA picks for Saturday, October 26.

Kings vs. Lakers Prediction

My pick: Over 231.5 (-110)

Sacramento’s defense is a mess. They can’t protect the rim, which means Anthony Davis and LeBron James are licking their chops. The Kings also play numerous low-feel defenders. JJ Redick’s sets will create chaos on the court, force defenders to react instantaneously, and exploit their inability to do so correctly. It should be a high-scoring game for the Lakers.

On the other end, Domantas Sabonis loves to orchestrate dribble-handoffs and pull bigs away from the basket. That’s scary for the Lakers because they rely on Davis’ rim protection to clean up mistakes. De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk will have a field day against Los Angeles’ guards.

Spread

Los Angeles' unblemished start has them as slight favorites in this contest.

Moneyline

According to the Lakers' openong odds of -148, they are projected to win 59.68% of the time.

Over/Under

The total is on the higher end, but that's to be expected in a Kings game. They are all offense and no defense.

Sacramento Kings: Mixed Feelings About DeMar DeRozan

The Kings were a decent team last season but did not have any realistic chance at a title. In order to hopefully tier-up, they boldly acquired former All-Star DeMar DeRozan.

The move was met with mixed reviews. DeRozan certainly brings dynamic playmaking and self-created scoring to the team, which can help keep the offense afloat when De’Aaron Fox rests. DeRozan also rarely misses games.

However, he doesn’t add 3-point value, and he’s a poor defender. That’s concerning because defense was Sacramento’s biggest need heading into this season. How are they going to get stops when Fox, DeRozan, and Domantas Sabonis share the court? Keon Ellis and Keegan Murray can’t be everywhere. If Sacramento swaps Ellis for Malik Monk or Kevin Huerter in crunch time, then the defense is truly a lost cause.

Now, the Kings do possess plenty of firepower and may be able to score their way to a bunch of wins during the regular season. That strategy doesn’t work in the playoffs though, so Sacramento is a buyer to monitor at the trade deadline.

Los Angeles Lakers: JJ Redick Blowing Away Expectations

Like the DeRozan acquisition, many believed that the Lakers hiring JJ Redick was a mistake due to his non-existent professional coaching history. However, he’s blown away expectations through two games.

Los Angeles’ offense has far more purposeful movement, the sets are beautifully designed, and their shot quality has improved. The offense is also running through Anthony Davis more, which has led to MVP-level play from him (35.5 points per game).

The defense is still a work in progress, largely because of personnel instead of scheme. D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves are not exactly the most impactful defenders out there, but at least they have Davis behind them to anchor the paint.

Overall, Los Angeles is off to a 2-0 start and looks like a completely different team.

My pick: Over 231.5 (-110)
