Here's everything you need to know about Kings vs. Suns on Tuesday, Jan. 16 — our expert prediction and betting picks for today.
The Kings will travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns on Tuesday night. Can the Suns pick up their first win of the season over the Kings, or will Sacramento pull off the upset?
Let's get to our Kings vs. Suns prediction and pick.
Kings vs. Suns Prediction
Pick: Suns -4.5
The Kings are coming off a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Bucks on Saturday night. Sacramento came back only to lose on a 35-footer from Damian Lillard at the buzzer.
This is the Kings' fifth game of their road trip and there is certainly some potential for fatigue. Despite this being a bad situational spot, I think Sacramento can still have success given this Phoenix defense is catastrophically bad. The Suns rank 20th in Adjusted Defensive Rating and have played the single easiest schedule of opposing offenses, according to dunksandthrees.com.
On the flip side of the ball, this Suns offense might be generationally elite. They currently have an offensive rating of 139.7 when Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal share the floor together. They should be able to dominate this Kings defense that lacks effective wing defenders. When you look across the Kings roster, there are few players who match up well with Durant or Booker. The Kings rank 17th in Adjusted Defense despite playing the 20th-most difficult schedule of opposing offenses.
Sacramento's defense has actually performed well against this Phoenix team in both games this season, holding them to just 105 and 106 points, but I’m not going to put much stock into those performances as the Suns were missing multiple starters in each game. This will be the best Suns team the Kings have played this season, and I expect Sacramento's defense to struggle here.

I was going to be looking to take the over here, but at 243.5 I think this number is spot on. I do, however, think this is an awful spot for this Kings team and will be playing the Suns at -4.5.
Sacramento is coming off an emotionally devastating loss and has been trending in the wrong direction over the last couple weeks. The Suns are starting to get some experience playing together and they may start to get hot as they develop more chemistry. I think 4.5 is too short and I would make this closer to -6 with the Kings traveling off that overtime loss for their fifth game of this road trip.
