New York Knicks vs Los Angeles Clippers NBA Friday Preview

The Knicks lost a heartbreaker in overtime last night to the Lakers and now have to play a Clippers team that is at a rest advantage. Can New York avoid the LA sweep?

The Knicks may be without Jalen Brunson tonight after he suffered an ankle sprain in overtime. If he's unable to go, Miles McBride likely slides into the starting lineup but this dramatically impacts the Knicks' offense.

Looking at the injury report, it's also likely that Mitchell Robinson (injury management) will not play and Precious Achiuwa (hamstring) should be monitored after sitting against the Lakers. The Clippers have already ruled out Ben Simmons (knee) and Norman Powell (hamstring).

One of the interesting quirks for the Knicks is that Jalen Brunson has a negative point differential on the season; however, his advanced metrics are still strong with a +3.1 BPM and +2.7 VORP. If he's unable to go this will have a clear negative impact on the team's offensive ceiling.

Karl-Anthony Towns sees his scoring spike from 29 points per 100 to an absurd 43.8 but all of the New York starters see upticks: McBride (+5.8), Bridges (+5.08), OG Anunoby (+4.62), per PBPStats. McBride and Josh Hart both see the most significant upticks in dimes to 6.9 and 9.4 per 100, respectively.

The Clippers have been excellent this season. They are just behind New York in Adjusted Net Rating and they have the third-best Adjusted Defense in the NBA (109.6), per Dunks and Threes. They have been a defense-first team that plays at a slow Pace to get their opponents into the mud.

Knicks vs Clippers Betting Predictions

The Knicks will struggle without Jalen Brunson and it's tough to back them as a team without him. The Clippers are the best team in the league ATS at home with a 14-5 record. The Knicks are the worst team in the league with zero days rest at 2-7 ATS and are just 3-9 ATS with a rest disadvantage.

Given those trends and the injury to Brunson, we will have to back the Clippers here. For my same game parlay, I'll attack a non-Brunson angle. KAT 25+ Points, Anunoby 15+ Points, and Hart 6+ Assists.

Knicks vs. Clippers Best Bet

  • Clippers -6.5 (-110)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • OG Anunoby 15+ Points (-255)
