Knicks vs. Grizzlies Preview

The New York Knicks head to Memphis for a Friday night matchup against the Grizzlies. The Knicks eviscerated the Grizzlies 143-106 a month ago in a dominant performance at the Garden. Can Memphis even the season series on their home court?

Both teams have critical players on their injury reports. The Grizzlies have listed Desmond Bane (Questionable – Groin). While the Knicks' injury report is lengthier.

They just received news that Ariel Hukporti (knee) will be out for weeks, but they've finally upgraded Mitchell Robinson (ankle) to Questionable and he may make his season debut. The Knicks are also listing Josh Hart (knee) and Karl-Anthony Towns (knee) as Questionable.

This is the front end of a back-to-back for Memphis so they may elect to sit Bane ahead of a matchup against the Spurs that would likely be an easier victory.

The Knicks' defense has struggled this season; however, the one aspect they have been relatively strong in is transition. They generally limit those opportunities and that's Memphis' strong suit. When the Knicks won a month ago, they limited Memphis in transition, and this has been the recipe to stop them.

Mitchell Robinson will likely be extremely limited if he makes his return. He is arguably the best offensive rebounder in the NBA, and it would be interesting to see how many minutes he plays alongside Karl-Anthony Towns.

We know KAT can play alongside a more traditional 5; however, it would dramatically change the Knicks' on-court geometry and spacing. That rebounding could help keep Memphis from getting out in transition as well.

Knicks vs. Grizzlies Prediction

The Grizzlies are excellent at home. They are 16-9 ATS as a home favorite, while the Knicks are just 2-6 as an underdog. However, given that the Knicks have shown an ability to dominate this Memphis team, it's tough to back Memphis in this spot.

While both of these teams are some of the best Over teams in the league, the key to this game will be who can dictate the pace. The book is out a bit on the Grizzlies – slow them down and beat them in the halfcourt, especially if they're missing Desmond Bane.

I think points could be at a premium here if the Knicks are able to simply limit the Grizzlies' transition opportunities, so I will grab the under. For my same game parlay, I like Morant 20+ Points, KAT 2+ Three-Pointers, and JJJ 2+ Three-Pointers.

Best Bet: Under 244.5 (-110)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • Ja Morant 20+ Points
  • Karl-Anthony Towns 2+ Three-Pointers
  • Jaren Jackson Jr. 2+ Three-Pointers

Parlay Payout: +252
