New York Knicks vs Detroit Pistons Preview for NBA Playoffs Game 4
I make the odds of the Knicks winning both games in Detroit just 16%. I loved New York to win this series at the start, giving them a 74% chance of advancing to the second round, and a 27% chance that it’s Knicks in 7.
In the end, New York’s offensive firepower is just greater than the Pistons’ given the circumstances. If Jaden Ivey was healthy, this is likely a 2-1 series in favor of the Pistons, and I would like Detroit to win.
But for this game? I like Detroit. I make this line Pistons -3.1, giving us almost a full point of value on the spread.
It’s true that the Knicks found things that worked in Game 3, like letting Karl-Anthony Towns touch the ball a few times. But the Pistons found even more answers, they just couldn’t capitalize.
The Knicks shot worse, took fewer threes, and got crushed on the glass. But they got to the line and limited their turnovers. There’s value in limiting your mistakes. But these are also things under the Pistons’ control.
I like Detroit to capitalize and even the series in Game 4 today, behind a great homecourt advantage and better role player performance.
