The Clippers are 8.5-point favorites over the Lakers on the spread (Clippers -8.5), with the over/under set at 221 total points. The Clippers are a -355 favorite to win outright, while the Lakers are +280 to pull off the upset.

Lakers vs. Clippers Preview

Two weeks ago, the Clippers took the first meeting from the Lakers, 116-102 in the Intuit Dome. A balanced attack led the way as Norman Powell, James Harden, Zubac and Kawhi Leonard all scored 19 points or more. Meanwhile, LeBron James had a game-high 25 points to go along with 11 assists, while Anthony Davis had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Round two is also in the Intuit Dome, but will look quite a bit different as Davis is now a Maverick. The Lakers won't have Luka Doncic available for this game, but he may make his Lakers debut as soon as this weekend.

Without Davis in the paint, Zubac should have a ton of room to operate. He enters this matchup with double figures in 19 of his past 20 games. The Lakers were already 26th in points allowed in the paint before the trade.

Harden has been fairly consistent as well. The 35-year-old is averaging 21.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 8.4 assists per game. He was named an All-Star for the 11th time in his career last Thursday.

Some felt it should have been Powell, who was the Clippers' All-Star representative. Without Leonard, Powell has been the team's leading scorer this season, averaging a career-high 24.1 points per game. Powell has scored 20 points in 12 of his past 14 games. He did not play in Sunday's loss to the Raptors, but is expected to go tonight.

James should also play, even though he is listed as probable for tonight's game. With the Lakers being 8.5-point underdogs, James will need a big performance to help the Lakers pull off an upset. He enters this matchup with 20 points in each of his past 10 games and eight assists in nine of them.

Lakers vs. Clippers Prediction

Zubac has recorded a double-double in 30-of-47 (64%) games this season and in three of his past four games against the Lakers. In his past two games against the Lakers, he had 22 points and 19 rebounds and 21 points and 19 rebounds. Again, both games came with Davis still on the Lakers. While the Lakers are expected to add a center before the trade deadline, they will not have a formidable presence on the interior tonight.

If Zubac has 20 points or 19 rebounds again, there is a good chance that he will go over his points + rebounds line. Zubac has recorded 30 PR in five of his past eight games against the Lakers and 40 PR in the past two meetings. He is -225 for a double-double tonight and the Lakers are allowing 22 points and 16 rebounds to centers this season.

I like Harden to set him up tonight. Harden has had eight assists in eight of his past 10 games and in eight of his past nine games against the Lakers, who are 23rd in assists allowed this season.

Meanwhile, Powell has scored 22 points in nine of his past 10 games, including in the last meeting. He is -138 for over 2.5 made 3s tonight, which would put him well on his way to scoring 20 points again.

Meanwhile, James has made two 3s in 10 of his past 11 games against the Clippers. That has helped him score 25 points in seven straight. If he gets there again, I like our chances to cash this parlay.

Best Bet: Ivica Zubac Over 26.5 Points + Rebounds (-120, DraftKings)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • LeBron James 25 Points
  • James Harden 8 Assists
  • Norman Powell 20 Points
  • Ivica Zubac Over 26.5 Points + Rebounds

Parlay Payout: +375 via DraftKings
