Los Angeles Lakers vs Dallas Mavericks NBA Preview

The Los Angeles Lakers play their second game in as many days as they look to secure a top seed in the Western Conference.

This game will be emotionally charged. They face off against the Dallas Mavericks in Luka’s first game back since he was unceremoniously traded to the Lakers, and it’s also Anthony Davis’s first crack at the Lakers. With both teams looking to secure seeding, this matchup should be tightly contested.

The Lakers have not submitted their injury report yet, but we will see if LeBron plays back-to-back. Dante Exum, who was thought to miss the rest of the season due to hand surgery, has been upgraded, and the Mavericks will miss his perimeter defense would be valuable. Anthony Davis is listed as Probable, but I would be shocked if he sat this one out.

All eyes will be on Luka Doncic in his return to Dallas tonight, but I’m targeting Austin Reaves.

The Mavericks threw extra help at Luka when these teams played closer to The Trade date, which opened things up for his teammates. This is a must-win game for seeding, regardless of its emotional aspect.

Reaves has been incredible for the Lakers. He has hit this in 71% of his games with Luka this season and is averaging 21.3 points and 4.8 assists in those games. This line is simply too low.

Reaves could clear this mark with just points, but I’ll tack on the assists in case he gets some easy ones to Luka. Additionally, the Mavericks have played at the seventh-fastest Pace in the league over their last 15 games so this is a bit of a Pace up spot as well.

This line is moving a bit against the Lakers; however, I expect them to take care of business tonight. As for props, Austin Reaves over 23.5 PA is my best bet, but I’ll make a same game parlay based on this revenge narrative for both AD and Luka.

Give me AD 25+ Points and 10+ Rebounds and Luka 25+ Points and 6+ Assists. Luka will get all of the Usage he can handle, and AD has a relatively soft matchup on the interior against this Lakers team.
