Lakers vs. Nets Preview

By Bruce Marshall

Maybe it's good news for the Nets that top scorer Cam Thomas will miss tonight with a hamstring. Brooklyn hasn't won in the five games since he returned to active duty on February 28.

The kicker is that Brooklyn had won 8 of 12 prior to the return of Thomas, as Jordi Fernandez skillfully worked with the pieces at his disposal and deployed a deliberate pace that not only was adopted by the Nets, but prompted them to thrive.

The Heat and Rockets (twice!) were among the teams Brooklyn topped during that stretch.

Now, the Nets catch the Lake Show minus LeBron James (groin), and right after their 8-game win streak with Luka Doncic was put to the sword by the Celtics on Saturday. Let's take the points with Brooklyn.

Pick: Lakers +6.5 (-110)

Lakers vs. Nets Prediction

It looks like no LeBron for at least a week as the Lake Show embarks upon on a demanding stretch of six games in 10 days, and two more stops after tonight on this road trip that began with a thud on Saturday night in Boston.

Luka Doncic also makes the injury report with back soreness, but no matter, the Lakers have not only been winning games, but they've been going Under with consistency since the Doncic trade, nine times in 10, in fact, the only exception last week vs. a sloppy Pelicans team that put forth very little effort on the stop-end.

LeBron isn't the only star who will miss tonight, with Thomas has already ruled out with a hamstring injury. And remember that Brooklyn saw the total go Under in 13 of 15 games without Thomas prior to his return. I'll also take the Under.

Pick: Under 215.5 (-110)
