Orlando Magic vs Atlanta Hawks Preview

By Brian Edwards

The Hawks have won three head-to-head meetings in a row over Orlando, and five of the last six, including the lone encounter this season, as Atlanta won 112-106 at Orlando as 6.5-point home underdogs on February 10.

Even more impressive was the fact that Atlanta prevailed with All-Star guard Trae Young playing poorly. Young had more turnovers (nine) than assists (eight), scoring just 17 points on 6-of-17 shooting from the field and 1-of-8 marksmanship from 3-point range.

Caris LeVert, who was acquired before the trade deadline, scored 18 points to go with eight rebounds and two assists without a turnover.

Terance Mann, who was playing just his second game for Atlanta after coming over from the Clippers in a deadline-day deal, had 12 points, two boards and one assist in only 14 minutes of playing time. Mann drained all four of his field-goal attempts, all three of his treys and his lone free throw.

Atlanta won four of its last six games before the All-Star break with its two losses coming by two combined points. The Hawks dropped a 126-125 decision as four-point home underdogs vs. San Antonio and lost 149-148 to the Knicks in overtime as eight-point road underdogs.

Atlanta is on a 7-0 ATS roll. The Hawks are 8-1 ATS with three outright victories in their last nine games as underdogs. They're also 8-1 ATS in their last nine outings as home underdogs.

Orlando is mired in a 4-11 SU and 3-12 ATS slide in its last 15 games.

Going back further, the Magic are 8-17 SU and 7-18 ATS in their last 25 contests. They're 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as favorites.

Best Bet: Hawks +1.5 (-115)

Magic vs Hawks Parlay Picks

By Kyle Murray

Onyeka Okongwu has taken over as the team's starting center, and while he has had some productive games of late, his rebounding numbers have not been popping off the page.

He is averaging 8.9 rebounds over his last 10 games, and this is a very difficult matchup against the slow-paced Magic, who have allowed the 2nd-fewest rebound chances per game this season.

I project Okongwu for less than 9 rebounds tonight.

This game has the makings of a low-scoring affair, but Trae Young is being forced to handle everything for this Hawks offense right now.

So, for my second prop, I am expecting a large portion of their points to come at the hands of Young. He has 41 assists in his last three games, and projects for 11 dimes tonight.

Magic vs. Hawks NBA Parlay

  • Hawks +1.5
  • Trae Young Over 9.5 Assists
  • Onyeka Okongwu Under 10.5 Rebounds

Parlay Payout: +420
