The Dallas Mavericks (26-25) and Boston Celtics (36-15) will meet in the NBA tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The game will broadcast live on TNT.

Let's get into my Mavericks vs. Celtics predictions and NBA picks for Thursday, February 6.

The Celtics are 10-point favorites over the Mavericks on the spread (Celtics -10), with the over/under set at 230 total points. Boston is a -500 favorite to win outright, while Dallas is +380 to pull off the upset.

Mavericks vs. Celtics Prediction

Spread

My Celtics vs. Mavericks best bet is on Boston to cover the spread, with the best line currently available at DraftKings. But as always, make sure to shop for the best line using our live NBA odds page.

Moneyline

I will be betting on the Celtics to cover the spread in this one. However, the moneyline is too steep for my liking.

Over/Under

I'm staying away from the total in tonight's contest.

My Pick: Celtics -10

Mavericks vs. Celtics Betting Preview

The Dallas Mavericks face off in a NBA Finals rematch against the Boston Celtics. While one could call this a revenge spot, half of the team is cycled out following the Luka Doncic Mega Trade. Couple this with Trade Deadline day, and there are plenty of moving pieces for this matchup.

The Mavericks completed the Doncic trade and returned Anthony Davis and Max Christie. While Christie made his debut, AD (abdomen) is listed as Questionable for this one. The Mavericks have also ruled out PJ Washinton (personal), Caleb Martin (trade pending), and Dereck Lively (ankle) for this contest as well.

The Celtics have only put Jrue Holiday (shoulder) on the injury report and he's Questionable.

This matchup will be difficult for Dallas if Anthony Davis does not play, as they'll be severely undermanned. That's not an ideal position to be in against the reigning champs who are already listed as double-digit favorites.

Without Luka, Washington, and Lively they have a Net Rating of -9.3, and even with Kyrie in those lineups, the Mavericks have a -7.3 Net Rating.

The Celtics have the third-best Adjusted Net Rating (+8.1) with the third-best offense and sixth-best defense. Their issues have been that there is a level of inconsistency this season and their lack of performance against the spread.

On the season, they are just 20-30-1 ATS and they are brutal as a home favorite at just 9-16. They still win these games as a home favorite (16-9). However, they have been far less convincing or dominant in this situation.

The key question will be whether AD is going to play. He's been incredible against Boston over the last few seasons and is averaging 29.3 points and 10.3 rebounds across 4 games.

If he's able to go, it would dramatically improve Dallas' depth and ability to attack Boston on the interior.

Mavericks vs. Celtics Prediction

This is a tough spot for Dallas. They're undergoing massive change right now and may be without Anthony Davis.

Even though it's a new situation for him, he's elite and should give an immediate boost.

For Boston, even though they have been poor in this spot, there's an opportunity here against a team who may be lacking chemistry with all of the moves that were made recently.

I'll lay the points with the Celtics as favorites at home.

For my same game parlay, I'll combine Jayson Tatum 20+ Points, Kyrie Irving 20+ Points, and Kristaps Porzingis 15+ Points.

Best Bet: Celtics -10 (-110)

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • Jayson Tatum 20+ Points
  • Kyrie Irving 20+ Points
  • Kristaps Porzingis 15+ Points

Parlay Payout: -110
