The Hornets have played to six unders in their eight games. But this is a spot where I want to bet their over.

The Hornets are playing the Pacers, who rank top-7 in scoring, while also ranking only 17th in pace, for now, with both those numbers likely to progress as Tyrese Haliburton rounds into his true form… hopefully.

Charlotte is 19th in pace and 21st in scoring, but they've played the Celtics twice, the Timberwolves on the road, the Rockets on the road, and the Heat at home.

We have two teams who actually prefer to run, and will likely play faster as the year goes on, with two of the worst seven (or so) defenses in the league. Maybe they have room to grow at the defensive end, but it's also possible they remain in the bottom-10 given each team's profile.

Pick: Over 235 (-110)

The Knicks face off against the Bucks on Friday night and the player I’m targeting is Jalen Brunson.

The Bucks are playing in their second game of a back to back and will have had to travel from Milwaukee to New York overnight. They’ve gotten off to a brutal start, with just a lackluster record of 2-6 and have been middling in their advanced metrics.

The Bucks have been burned by score-first guards this season. Garland (39), Morant (26), Schroder (29), and Mitchell (30), to name a few.

Brunson can score with the best of them, even though he’s had a bit of a slow start to the season himself (25.3 ppg). However, he thrived in this specific matchup last year and scored 36+ in three straight games against the Bucks’ drop coverage.

This is a get-right spot for Brunson, so I’ll back him to exceed 27.5 points against Milwaukee tonight.

Pick: Jalen Brunson Over 27.5 Points (-120)

Wizards vs. Grizzlies

Carlton Carrington Over 11.5 Points (-125)

Bub Carrington is having a solid to start his rookie season with the Wizards, but has flown a bit under the radar due to playing next to No. 2 overall pick Alexandre Sarr.

Carrington has seen his role increase without Kyle Kuzma, who will be out again Friday. In three games without Kuzma, Bub is averaging 12 points per game in 34 minutes.

This matchup is particularly strong, though. The Grizzlies and Wizards rank 4th and 2nd in Pace, respectively, and Memphis’ defense hasn't been nearly as tight this year, at just 12th in Adjusted Defensive Rating, per Dunks and Threes.

I have Carrington projected to score roughly 15 points tonight, so will gladly play this over at 11.5.

Pick: Carlton Carrington Over 11.5 Points (-125)

Heat vs. Nuggets

On today's Buckets featuring Jay Money, Matt Moore and I, we threw this bet out there as a long shot sprinkle. As of the time of writing, we identified this same game parlay at +470.

The Heat are 6-1 in first halves this season straight up while Denver is 1-7. The Heat have won the first half and lost the game in three of six contests, while Denver has lost the first half and won the game in four of seven instances, needing overtime on multiple occasions.

This is meant to be a tiny sprinkle at +470 on FanDuel. But it's very much within the realm of possibility, especially given Denver's first half woes, combined with Miami's second half missteps, plus the fact that Miami has beaten Denver at Ball Arena just once since 2016, and that was in Game 2 of the 2023 NBA Finals.

Same Game Parlay: Heat First Half ML / Nuggets Full Game ML (+470)
