Heat vs. Knicks

Both times the Knicks played the Heat this year, the Heat were up at half and lost.

Miami has been an abysmal fourth quarter team for two years. Last year, they were worst in the NBA in fourth quarter plus-minus among all 30 teams except for the Phoenix Suns. This year, they're third to last — only the Sixers and Nets are worse.

The Knicks don't have Jalen Brunson, sure, but their late-game execution should still be better than a (mainly) Tyler Herro led fourth quarter offense. Herro is averaging 4.4 points per fourth quarter in his last 20 games. He's shooting 36.7 percent from the field and 17.8 percent from three in that stretch.

Bam Adebayo's at 4.8 points per fourth in his last 20 and is converting 46.7 percent, so better, but combined, it isn't enough.

Pick: Heat First Half Moneyline / Knicks Moneyline (+500)

Sunday's unexpected win over a limping Dallas team makes me like the Sixers even less on Monday.

Remember, Philly hasn't won back-to-back games since late January, and Nick Nurse's makeshift roster doesn't include Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, or Paul George. But the Sixers locker room has been more polluted than the Schuylkill River, largely because of the attitudes of Embiid and George. Five of the six previous losses prior to the Dallas win came by double-digit margins.

Now, Philly meets a hot Houston side on a six-game uptick, but also likely to bear down enough to extend the margin here after getting unexpectedly pushed by the lowly Jazz on Saturday; the Rockets had beaten the same Mavs team that just lost to the Sixers by 37 on Friday. Play Rockets.

Pick: Rockets -15.5 (-110)

Kevin Huerter Over 13.5 Points (-110)

Kevin Huerter has taken on a sizable role given the injuries in Chicago's back court. Over the past 9 games, he's averaged 30.7 MPG. He's played 30+ minutes in 4 straight games. The shooting results have been mixed, but the volume has been there. Huerter has averaged 12.6 shots in this stretch, including 8.7 3-point attempts. He's posted 14.3 PPG.

Utah is the most vulnerable defense in the league from long range. The Jazz allow the most 3-point attempts and the most made 3-pointers per game. They're 29th in defensive rating and 28th in points allowed per game. Utah played last night, so there's a good chance several of their veterans rest tonight. Huerter and the Bulls could be squaring off against a depleted version of a team that already struggles on defense.

Lonzo Ball and Ayo Dosunmu have both been shut down for the season. Josh Giddey is doubtful. The Bulls are down to Tre Jones, Coby White, and Huerter to soak up the majority of the guard minutes. Huerter should cruise past 30 minutes again.

Pick: Kevin Huerter Over 13.5 Points (-110)

The Kings face off against the Memphis Grizzlies tonight in a critically important game for their playoff positioning.

This is an excellent Pace up spot for the Kings against the Grizzlies who play at one of the fastest Paces in the league.

LaVine has smoked the Grizzlies the last few seasons averaging nearly 30 points per game. He’s played in this matchup with DeRozan before and they both have gotten plenty of run.

LaVine is averaging 23.6 ppg and 24.4 over his last 10 as he has assimilated himself into the King’s offensive scheme. I’ll back LaVine on Monday night.

Pick: Zach LaVine Over 20.5 Points (-130)

The Suns are taking on the Toronto Raptors on what is the second leg of a back to back set for both teams. The Suns lost to the Lakers on Sunday while Toronto lost to the Trail Blazers.
