Nuggets vs. Magic
By Joe Dellera
The Nuggets take on the Magic on Sunday and Aaron Gordon gets to face off against the team that originally drafted him.
Gordon has been great against Orlando, averaging 28.8 Points + Rebounds (PR) against them over his last six meetings against the Magic.
It’s a bit skewed from a 50 PR performance, but he still he crushes this matchup.
Since returning from injury, he has been coming off the bench and running that unit. He’s averaging 12.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He may continue to do so even as his minutes get ramped up.
I want to ladder the rebounds here. He’s recorded 6+ (+280 FD) in all 6 of those games against Orlando, and he's gotten up to 8+ (+900 FD) in 5/6.
Pick: Aaron Gordon Over 13.5 Points + Rebounds (-113)
76ers vs. Bucks
Damian Lillard has gone over this line in three straight games and in six of his last seven.
Joel Embiid, Caleb Martin, Guershon Yabusele, Paul George and Kyle Lowry all sat Saturday.
Jared McCain and KJ Martin are also still out and will remain out. Embiid is not going to play Sunday. We'll see about some others.
The Sixers are a sh*t show, Lillard is playing well, and that's all this bet really comes down to.
No one on Philly will stop Dame. This just comes down to making shots, because he will get to all his preferred spots on the floor.
Lillard is shooting 53/55/92 in his last seven outings.
Pick: Damian Lillard Over 23.5 Points (-115)
Bulls vs. Trail Blazers
The Bulls are embarking on a three-game West Coast trip, beginning Sunday night in Portland, where they will take on the Trail Blazers (13-28).
While this contest might not have the appeal of a marquee matchup, the total is drawing plenty of interest, considering that it’s been bet up to 236.5 after opening at 232.5.
According to our Action Labs database, the Bulls are 27-13-1 (67.5%) to the under in games bet up with an opening total of 232.5 or more points.
Moreover, the Trail Blazers' average total this season is 224.6, and they have yet to play a game with a number this high.
More often than not, the under is going to cash when you’re dealing with a total in this price range, and I’m more than happy to take a contrarian approach and fade the public.
My model projects a total closer to 231.4, giving me a significant edge on the under at the current price.
Pick: Under 236.5 (-110)
Nuggets vs. Magic
By Bill Marzano
The Nuggets are playing much better as of late and getting healthy heading into today's matchup against a struggling Magic team that has had some serious injury issues they are still dealing with.
Guards Jalen Suggs (back) and Gary Harris (hamstring) missed Friday's loss. Leading rebounder G. Bitadze is out with a concussion, and Franz Wagner (oblique) is still a couple of weeks away from returning.
Paolo Banchero has only played nine games this season due to injury, but is the leading scorer when he is in the lineup at 26.9 points per game. Wagner is second at 24.4 and Suggs is scoring 16.4 points a game.
For the Nuggets, the key to them playing well is their health. The Joker will play tonight, and his presence on the court is huge.
Jamal Murray is also playing much better, as the Nuggets have won five of their last six overall. They lost their only meeting vs. the Magic this year and have dropped three straight in this series. Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr will play key roles in this matchup as well.
The Magic's depth is lacking in this game despite their stellar defense played this year. I don't they have enough offensive firepower to keep this one close.
Pick: Nuggets -7.5 (-120)
76ers vs. Bucks
By Bill Marzano
The 76ers are in big trouble here on short rest, playing on the second half of a back to back against a well-rested Bucks squad.
These two teams don't like each other, plain and simple. And right now, the Sixers are a wounded animal. They are riding a five game losing streak, and they were hammered 124-109 in the only meeting of the season between these teams, and just got beat up last night in Indiana.
The 76ers injury report is getting longer, Joel Embiid is out due to knee swelling and is expected to be re-evaluated in the next week, while Paul George also missed Saturday's game due to a groin injury.
G. Yabusele (knee), Kyle Lowry (hip), and Caleb Martin (groin) also didn't play Saturday. Their statuses for Sunday are to be determined. Rookie Jared McCain (knee) has also been out for the remainder of the season. There is not yet a clear timetable on the return of KJ Martin (foot).
The Bucks have dominated this series as of late, winning five in a row over Philly, and are relatively healthy. Their depth and rest advantage should only add to Philly's woes.
Pick: Bucks -12.5 (-110)
Wizards vs. Kings
The Over is the play in this battle between the Wizards and Kings.
The Kings have seen the total go Over in three straight games, and six of their last seven.
The Kings have lit up the scoreboard for at least 113 points in eight games in a row, while also coughing up 128.5 points per game in the past two games as well.
For the Wizards, the Over has cashed in four straight, primarily thanks to Washington surrendering 120 or more points in five straight games.
I'll take the Over in this one.
