Knicks vs. Pacers
By Nick Parsons
The Knicks enter the matchup 34-18 and eager to rebound after a 131-104 home loss to Boston.
The Knicks have seen the total go Over in five straight now, but note that looking back at the trends, New York has seen the total go Under in four of its last five after playing to five or more straight Overs in a row.
They play with revenge here as well after a 132-121 loss here in November, and note the Knicks have also seen the total dip below the posted number in eight of their last 12 in trying to avenge a SU/ATS road loss vs. an opponent.
The Pacers are 29-22 after a 124-117 loss at the Lakers. Indiana saw the total go Over in all three of its most recent road game (going just 1-2), but note that looking back the Pacers have seen the total dip below the posted number in four of their last five after playing to three or more straight Overs in a row.
This O/U line is a bit too high now, as everything points to a much slower-paced, and ultimately lower-scoring defensive battle. The play is the Under.
Pick: Under 239.5 (-110)
Pistons vs. Bulls
By Alex Hinton
Nikola Vucevic has scored 20 points in his last five games against the Pistons, averaging 24.4 points per game. In that span, he has made two 3-pointers in four of the five games.
The Pistons are 24th in 3-pointers allowed per game (13.9) and 28th in 3-point percentage defense (37.5%) this season. They are also 24th in 3s allowed to centers, surrendering 1.4 per game.
A big reason for that is because center Jalen Duren has struggled when tasked with defending bigs that can stretch the floor. Myles Turner has knocked down 12 triples in his last two games against the Pistons. Meanwhile, power forwards Evan Mobley (three) and P.J. Washington (four) have also found success behind the arc recently against Detroit.
Just nine days ago, Vucevic made four 3s against the Pistons in Detroit. He also made six 3s while scoring against the Pistons in November. He gets his final opportunities to take advantage of this matchup this week as the teams get ready to begin a back-to-back.
As a Pistons fan, I am expecting him to make at least two 3s tonight. However, given the success he has found in this matchup, it’s definitely worth backing him as a ladder bet as well. You can back him for three triples at +280 and for four at +700 on FanDuel.
Pick: Nikola Vucevic 2+ Made Threes (-110)
Grizzlies vs. Suns
By Joe Dellera
The Grizzlies face off against the Phoenix Suns today, and while this is a star-studded matchup, I’m targeting this Memphis rookie.
Zach Edey’s season has been one of slight inconsistency, often through no fault of his own, as his rotation swings based on matchups. This spot against the Suns, who run both Nick Richards and Mason Plumlee, is a great opportunity for him to see 20+ minutes.
When Edey plays 20+ minutes this season, he averages 12.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. He also records a double-double in 33% of those games.
Last game was a brutal spot against the Oklahoma City Thunder, who play much smaller. Here, we have a great opportunity against the Suns, who tend to keep some size on the floor.
I’ll grab over 14.5 PR and sprinkle the built out double double.
Pick: Zach Edey Over 14.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)
Grizzlies vs. Suns
Ja Morant isn't on the injury report, but regardless, Desmond Bane has scored 20 or more points in six of the eight games they've played together.
He has also done so in three straight and in five of six games against the Suns, going back to the 2022-2023 season.
Bane is quietly shooting 54/44/88 splits over his last 22 games, dating back to December 19. The Suns are 27th in defense, so stopping Bane would be very off-script.
