Lakers vs. Mavericks
By Joe Dellera
The Lakers face off against the Mavericks tonight, who are extremely thin right now without both Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. They may also be without Daniel Gafford (ankle), who left yesterday’s game which would further impact their interior presence.
Anthony Davis has played well against the Mavericks recently, and as Dereck Lively has seen more time on the floor, he has continued to exploit the matchup.
In his three games against Lively, AD has averaged 25 points per game against him, but that number is dragged down by one outlier bad performance (10 points).
Considering Dallas is on a back-to-back and they’ve allowed strong performances to bigs including Jaren Jackson Jr and Evan Mobley earlier this week, I expect a big game from AD tonight.
Pick: Anthony Davis Over 25.5 Points (-125)
Rockets vs. Wizards
By Ray Monohan
Houston and Washington have value to the under on Tuesday night. This game is going to be played at the Rockets pace. They come in as one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, allowing just 106 points per game so far.
The Rockets continue to turn up the pressure tremendously time and time again, and they'll force the Wizards out of their rhythm here.
Expect this game to turn into a grind from the start and for transition buckets to be very minimal.
Houston will force this into a half court style game, which will chew up a lot of clock per possessions.
Grab the Under. This total is too high.
Pick: Under 225.5 (-110)
Suns vs. Hornets
The Suns have seen the total go Under nine of their last 10 games. Similarly, the Hornets have also seen the Under consistently prevail as of late, with the total going Under in seven straight games, and eight of their last nine contests.
Both teams have placed a heavy emphasis on defense lately.
The Hornets have held their opponents under 50% shooting in eight consecutive games. Take the Under in this one.
Pick: Under 222 (-110)
Hawks vs. Jazz
By Joe Dellera
Trae Young has been DIMING this season, and now gets the Charmin' soft defense of the Jazz.
Utah allows the sixth-most assists per game and is especially susceptible to lead guards.
The Jazz have the league’s worst defense, but play at the 12th-fastest Pace.
Considering Atlanta plays at the second-fastest, there will be plenty of possessions for Trae to dime tonight.
Trae has gone over this line in half of his game this season, and given the matchup, he should have no issues doing it again here.
Pick: Trae Young Over 11.5 Assists (-140)
Celtics vs. Nuggets
By Alex Hinton
After losing to Oklahoma City on Sunday afternoon, the Celtics will continue on their road trip in Denver against the Nuggets. Tonight's game will be a matchup between the last two NBA Champions. However, the Nuggets are not getting the respect of a recent champion on their home floor.
Denver has not been an underdog too often this season, just nine times overall and twice at home. The Nuggets are 1-1 against the spread as a home underdog this season, but 6-3 ATS as an underdog overall.
Meanwhile, the Celtics are only 2-4-1 ATS against the Western Conference this season. They have also struggled to contain Nikola Jokic of late.
Jokic is averaging 31.2 points, 11 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in his last four games against the Celtics. His Points + Rebounds + Assists (PRA) line is 51.5 tonight, and he has cleared it in each of his last six games.
Jokic has led the Nuggets to three straight wins over the Celtics, winning outright as an underdog in all three matchups.
Denver's win streak over the Celtics may come to an end tonight, but I still believe this line is too big.
The Nuggets are 10-6 at home straight up, winning five of their last six games at Ball Arena.
Pick: Nuggets +6 (-110)
Celtics vs. Nuggets
By Nick Parsons
The Celtics are 26-10, but saw their three-game win streak snapped in a poor 105-92 loss at Oklahoma City last time out.
Note though, the Celtics have seen the total go Over in eight of their last 12 instances when coming off a SU/ATS road loss in which they were held to 95 or fewer points.
The Nuggets are 20-14 on the season, and have won four of their last five, coming off a 122-111 overtime win over San Antonio, and the total still stayed Under the number in that contest.
Look for the Nuggets to build off their last win and to bring their A-game at home against the defending champs.
With each side pushing the pace like I'm expecting, all signs point toward another Over tonight in Denver.
