Spurs vs. Celtics

Devin Vassell 15+ Points (-120)

The Spurs face off against the Boston Celtics today and while there are a ton of stars in this matchup, I’m looking at Devin Vassell.

Vassell has been solid for the Spurs this season and is averaging 16.1 ppg.

Importantly, he has not been overly impacted by the addition of De’Aaron Fox. He is scoring at almost the exact same rate (a touch better actually) with Fox on the floor compared to without him.

Vassell has 15+ points in 61% of games this season, and while Boston may seem like a tougher matchup, he has hit this in 3/4 against them over the past few seasons.

Considering the Celtics are without Jrue Holiday and may also be without Jaylen Brown, their defense will take a bit of a hit.

I like Vassell to score 15 points tonight.

Pick: Devin Vassell 15+ Points (-120)

Hornets vs. Magic

Orlando doesn't have enough offense to lay this big of a number and get away with it. That's been proven the past 10 times. Orlando is 1-9 ATS when laying three or more points.

Aside from Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, the Magic lack the offensive talent and have too many key injuries to cover large point spreads.

The Magic rank last in scoring averaging 104.1 points a game. They also are the worst 3-point shooting team. Orlando has failed to reach 100 points in four of its last seven games.

More than one-third of the Magic's victories have been by fewer than six points.

I get that Charlotte is terrible. But the Hornets have a winning point spread record during their last 14 road games.

They are 5-1 ATS during their past six games. Only twice in their last 19 games have the Hornets lost by more than 10 points.

Pick: Hornets +12.5 (-110)

Indiana had to deal with a hard fought game against the Knicks on Tuesday and this turnaround is going to be tough for them.

We narrowly missed on the Knicks/Pacers Under last night, so I am going to double-down, as they are going to be sluggish offensively and try to slow this game down on Washington.

Indiana scored just 89 points in their last 2nd leg of a back to back and they will have their issues again.

Washington is incredibly inconsistent with their young core and that'll lead to some stretches during this game where neither team finds their footing offensively.

This is a good spot for a lower scoring game. Grab the under.

Pick: Under 241.5 (-110)

Hawks vs. Knicks

Atlanta has won three games in a row and four of its last five, with the lone defeat coming by one point vs. San Antonio (126-125).

The Hawks have covered the spread in six straight games and are on an 8-1 ATS roll. They've won outright in three of the last four head-to-head meetings, including a 121-116 win as seven-point home underdogs back in November and a 108-100 win at New York as eight-point road 'dogs in December.

New York is in a back-to-back spot after winning 128-115 win at Indiana last night. Then the Knicks had to fly back to NYC.

Josh Hart logged 39 minutes and 59 seconds of playing time last night, while Karl-Anthony Towns played 38 minutes and 16 seconds. OG Anunoby has missed four straight games with a foot injury.

At this point early Wednesday morning, the Knicks' injury situation is unclear for tonight due to the back-to-back spot.

I like the Hawks regardless, but I suspect the number could move lower if the Knicks decide to rest anyone.

Pick: Hawks +8.5 (-120)

Bucks vs. Timberwolves

Naz Reid Over 18.5 Points (-115)

Targeting Naz Reid who has seen a huge uptick in minutes over the last few weeks with Julius Randle sidelined. With Giannis out, Naz gets a dream matchup after a rough shooting game vs. Cleveland.

In the last few games the Bucks have allowed the 5th most 3 point attempts which is where 35% of Naz's shot volume comes from.

In home games, Reid is shooting 45% from 3. After a 1/6 game, I like him to improve behind the arc coming back home.

With Giannis sidelined, the Bucks have dropped to one of the worst paint defenses allowing over 30 FGAs which is where I see Naz being aggressive and getting to the free throw line.

Forty-percent of his shot volume comes from the paint, and with all the attention on Edwards, Naz should have plenty of open looks.

Reid has seen 35+ minutes in five straight games. Expect a big bounce back performance tonight heading into the break.

Pick: Naz Reid Over 18.5 Points (-115)

Heat vs. Thunder

Thunder -13.5 (-110)

This is a great spot on the Thunder and an even better spot to fade the Heat. Miami is in trouble and they are struggling right now.

The Heat come in failing to cover 10 of their last 14 and 4 of their last 5 losses have come by 16 or more points.

They just have no confidence and cannot keep up with teams right now and have failed to cover in 5 of their last 6.

Oklahoma City is not the team you want to see when you're struggling like this and they're going to pick apart this Miami side on both ends of the floor.

This is going to be a completely lopsided game, as OKC has dominated the East. Lay the points.

Pick: Thunder -13.5 (-110)

Warriors vs. Mavericks

By Stephen Nover

A decimated front-court, no Luka Doncic and a disgruntled, hostile fan base put me on the Warriors. Golden State is coming on since acquiring Jimmy Butler burying the Bucks and and Bulls in their last two games.

This is more a fade on the Mavericks, though. Dallas wanted to load up in the frontcourt and beat teams dominating the paint after dealing Doncic for Anthony Davis. Unfortunately for the Mavericks they have a cluster injury situation with their big men.

Center Daniel Gafford is the latest Dallas casualty after suffering a sprained knee in an overtime loss to the Kings this past Monday. He joins other injured Dallas players Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, Dwight Powell, P.J. Washington and Caleb Martin.

The Mavericks are generating no sympathy from their fans, who hate them now for trading Doncic. Dallas probably is better off being on the road than playing at home during this time.

A rejuvenated Butler has made the Warriors relevant again. It's not a fluke the Warriors had a season-16 steals against the Bucks in their last game, a 125-111 win, and that Curry is averaging seven 3-pointers during the past two games.

Pick: Warriors -4.5 (-118)

Grizzlies vs. Clippers

Grizzlies +4.5 (-110)

Memphis is on the 2nd night of a back to back, and while they may try to rest a key player or two, they have still been great in this spot because of their youth and their depth.

The Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS on back to backs and 11-1 ATS when at a rest disadvantage this season.

The Clippers started the season hot, but where has the defense gone?

Over the last two weeks they have slipped to right around 15th on both offense and defense. They’ve allowed 115+ points in 3 of their last 4 games, and have dropped 5 of their last 7 home games ATS.

Having an older team with more miles on them starts to show at this time of year, and LA looks like they need the All-Star Break to come quick.

I’ll grab the points and sprinkle the moneyline.

Pick: Grizzlies +4.5 (-110)
