Mavericks vs. 76ers
Since Dereck Lively II went down with a right ankle injury, Daniel Gafford has seen a substantial increase in minutes and usage.
Gafford has certainly not wasted the opportunity.
In just under 30 minutes per game, Gafford has averaged just shy of 19 points on 73.3% shooting from the field and 79.5% shooting from the free-throw line.
During that nine-game stretch, Gafford has logged at least 15 points six times.
Gafford and the Mavs will take on the 76ers, who might have Joel Embiid (questionable) back in the lineup on Tuesday night. Throughout the season, Embiid has struggled to stay healthy and, thus, keep in good physical condition.
Gafford is an energizer bunny of sorts; he sprints to screens offensively and rim runs in the fastbreak.
If Embiid plays, he will have issues keeping up with Gafford as there is no way he is in game shape right now.
Pick: Daniel Gafford Over 14.5 Points (-135)
Celtics vs. Cavaliers
By Joe Dellera
The Cavaliers face off against the Celtics in a showdown between the top two teams in the East. This is going to be a tight and competitive game and one player that has dominated in this matchup is Donovan Mitchell.
Mitchell is averaging 40.3 PR (34.3 points/6 Rebounds) across 13 games since 2021 against Boston. This season, he has 43 and 42 PR against Boston as well.
At 29.5 he has a 92%% hit rate on this prop vs. Boston since 2021. I like including the rebounds because he’s had a high floor and ceiling against Boston, plus he could clear this with just points.
Mitchell takes the bulk of his shots on above-the-break 3s and the midrange — two shots that Boston has allowed this season.
Pick: Donovan Mitchell Over 29.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)
Cavaliers vs. Celtics
Mobley has gone over this in four straight games and eight of 10. Against Boston, he's gone over in one of two games this year.
Believe it or not, the Celtics allow the eighth-most boards per 100 possessions and the third-most twos. This helps Mobley as a scorer and facilitator, and, of course, on the glass.
The line is too low. I would still play at 28.5, but at 29.5, I'd have to think about it.
Pick: Evan Mobley Over 27.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists
Heat vs. Bulls
By Royals Props
I'm backing Tyler Herro after a poor shooting game vs. the Spurs (4-for-15 FG, 0-for-7 3PT.)
Herro gets a dream matchup vs. the Bulls, who are dead last in attempts allowed in the restricted area and the above-break 3, which is where all of Herro’s shot volume stems from.
Herro’s scoring splits and usage increase in road games as he takes on a larger load; he's averaging over 25 points compared to 22 at home. The Bulls are a bottom-three team in assists allowed per game; in the last 10 games, Herro is averaging 13+ assist chances, which is tied for the eighth-most league wide.
Herro is also averaging 9+ rebound chances per game in the last 10, which is good for 23+ RA chances giving us a nice cushion. He should see 35+ minutes tonight in a fast-paced matchup. This bet can be found on BetMGM.
Pick: Tyler Herro Over 36.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115)
Heat vs. Bulls
The Bulls have signaled their intention to tank by trading their best player (Zach LaVine).
More Chicago players could be on the way out before tip-off with the NBA trade deadline looming. All in all, it's going to be tough for the shorthanded Bulls to have their focus and rotation in order.
The Heat are back on track — only a loss to the Cavaliers keeps the Heat from having a four-game win streak.
Pick: Heat -3.5 (-110)
Lakers vs. Clippers
By Nick Parsons
The Clippers return home after a 2-2 road trip. Their last three games went over the number, but note that the Clips have seen the total dip below the number in eight of their last 11 after playing to three or more straight Overs in a row.
The Clippers fell 115-108 at Toronto last time out. They have also seen the total fall below the posted number in three of their last four off a SU/ATS road loss in which they were favored.
The Lakers are 28-19 and obviously the talk of the town following the Luka Doncic trade. They've won four of their last five, including a 128-112 victory at the Knicks last time out.
The Lakers play with revenge after a 116-102 loss to the Clippers as a visitor. The Lakers have seen the total go under in seven of their last 10 games in trying to avenge a SU/ATS divisional road loss vs. an opponent.
This number is high — the play is the Under.
Pick: Under 221 Total Points (-108)
Pacers vs. Trail Blazers
The Trail Blazers (21-29 straight up, 29-20-1 against the spread) remained on fire last night, collecting a 121-119 win over the Suns in overtime as five-point home underdogs. They hooked up their moneyline backers with a +165 return.
Chauncey Billups' team has now won four games in a row and is on a 9-0 ATS roll. Portland has won outright in eight of its last nine contests.
In fact, the Trail Blazers have won five of those eight games by margins of at least 11 points and six of the wins have been by at least nine points.
Playing against his former team last night, Portland center DeAndre Ayton produced 25 points, 20 rebounds, one steal, one blocked shot and dished out a pair of assists without committing a turnover. Deni Avdija added 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists, draining 8-of-12 field-goal attempts, 3-of-6 from 3-point land and all five of his free throws.
Toumani Camara added 17 points on 5-of-7 makes from downtown, while Anfernee Simons had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards. In only 22 minutes of playing time off the bench, Scoot Henderson contributed 15 points and six assists.
Portland's lone outright defeat during its 8-1 SU and 9-0 ATS surge? That came against Oklahoma City, which currently owns the NBA's second-best SU record (39-14) and the No. 1 ATS ledger (31-14-3).
Like the Trail Blazers, Indiana is also in a back-to-back spot tonight. Although the Pacers didn't play extra minutes in OT last night, they did have to catch a late-night flight from Salt Lake City to Portland after edging the Jazz, 112-111.
