NBA Title Odds: Lakers Fall Mightily After Failing to Acquire Anthony Davis

The NBA trade deadline has come and gone and a number of players are on the move. The biggest news, however, is of one certain player remaining in New Orleans for now.

The contenders in the Western Conference were largely quiet, but the top dogs in the East were busy this week.

Oddsmakers aren't entirely sure which Eastern Conference contender is the best, and following Thursday's deals, they've moved the Celtics, Raptors, 76ers and Bucks all to +1000.

Three of those Eastern Conference contenders made big deals this week, with Philly acquiring Tobias Harris, Toronto acquiring Marc Gasol and Milwaukee acquiring Nikola Mirotic.

The 76ers also parted ways with last year's No. 1 overall pick, Markelle Fultz, dealing him to Orlando for Jonathan Simmons and multiple draft picks.

Boston, however, has yet to do anything. The Celtics could add someone via buyout, with some folks suggesting Enes Kanter being a possible match, but they're the only one of those four teams to stand pat as of now.

Out west, it was more about what did not get done. LeBron James is in a very unfamiliar spot as he sits outside of the playoff bubble looking in at the deadline, and help is not on the way (for now).

The Lakers had actually been at +2500 a couple weeks back, but moved to +1600 as somewhat of a security blanket in case they acquired Anthony Davis. With that possibility now out the window for the time being, they've fallen back down to +4000, which is even worse than they were before. Keep in mind, they are currently at .500 and in 10th place in the Western Conference, so they'll still need to make the playoffs before they can worry about winning a title.

They did actually make a deal today by sending Ivica Zubac and Michael Beasley to the Clippers for Mike Muscala. This also opens up a roster space for a potential buyout player. Or…
