The Warriors entered the 2020-21 season with a ton of uncertainty. Golden State knew that Klay Thompson would be out for likely the entire season while recovering from a torn right Achilles tendon.
With Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman shaping this year's Warriors core, it wasn't clear how far the squad could go.
Well now, those questions have been answered.
The major issues of depth and perimeter shooting reared their ugly heads late in the season despite the Dubs' defense being great all year long.
Golden State lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Play-In Tournament and immediately turned their attention to what should be a busy offseason.
NBA Draft Needs
- Scoring: With Klay Thompson sidelined for the entire 2021 season and James Wiseman not ready to be a consistent low-post scorer, the Warriors struggled to produce points, ranking 20th in the league in offensive rating.
- Playmaking/Ball handling: Draymond Green and Steph Curry yet again combined their playmaking prowess to power the Warriors' offense. But without Thompson's shooting stretching out opposing defenses, they didn't have the necessary firepower to make teams pay for going all-out to stop Curry.
