The Oklahoma City Thunder went into full rebuild mode in 2021. Lead guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and defensive-minded Luguentz Dort were both excellent for the Thunder in 2021, though SGA only appeared in 35 games before a significant plantar fascia issue shut him down.
Dort — already a big-time defender — shot a career-high 34.3% from 3-point range on just over six attempts per game from deep. If the Thunder want to get this rebuild moving in an upwards trajectory, adding some high-upside prospects who can compliment Gilgeous-Alexander and Dort is key.
The Thunder have a trove of future draft picks and have added more this offseason when they acquired Kemba Walker from the Boston Celtics for Al Horford and Moses Brown.
NBA Draft Needs
- Scoring Wings: The Thunder were dead-last in the league in offensive rating this past season. With Gilgeous-Alexander out for most of the year, it was even more glaring that none of the OKC wings can score against a set defense.
- Stretch Bigs: Moses Brown showed promise as a physical, rim-running, high-effort, rebounding big. With his departure, along with Horford, the Thunder could be looking for another versatile big man with a varied skillset.
