Boston swept its two-game series against Dallas in the regular season. Their first meeting in mid-January ended in a 119-110 Celtics victory in Boston. Jayson Tatum’s 39-point, 11-rebound performance was enough to withstand an impressive trouble double by Luka Dončić, who finished with 33 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists.
The Celtics blew the Mavericks out on their home court in their second meeting, 138-110. Tatum scored a game-high 32 points, including five 3-pointers, to easily guide Boston to the win despite yet another triple-double by Dončić (37 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists).
Meanwhile, the Celtics and Timberwolves split their two-game season series in a pair of overtime games. Minnesota prevailed 114-109 in early November behind a monster performance by Anthony Edwards, who scored 38 points and dished out seven dimes. He scored eight points in overtime, including three straight buckets in a one-minute span to secure the win.
The Celtics won the second meeting in mid-January, 127-120. Tatum and Jaylen Brown powered the overtime win, scoring 45 and 35 points, respectively.
