Two-game losing streaks are the norm for the Trail Blazers this year, but they aren't for the Suns, who have suffered back-to-back defeats. Now, they gear up for a visit from Portland.
Despite losses to the Pelicans and the Jazz, the Suns are still in pole position in the West, thanks to the blistering run they went on from November through to the All-Star Break.
The Blazers have had yet another disappointing season, but it hasn't been all bad for a team that looked like it was down and out earlier in the year.
Prior to this mini-rut, Portland went on a three-game winning streak that included victories over the Bucks and the Grizzlies, plus their historic comeback over the Knicks.
The Trail Blazers are on the outside looking in for the playoff picture, but an upset win here could vault them up into the final play-in playoff spot the league offers. Phoenix is still 6.5 games clear of the Warriors, and there won't be too much concern of a full-on collapse in Arizona.
Portland is dealing with a number of injuries ahead of this contest, including ailments to Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow and Jusuf Nurkic. Phoenix is getting healthier, but Chris Paul will be out of this contest after suffering a long-term thumb injury.
It'll be important for the Suns to get Paul back as the playoffs arrive, but for now, they'll be happy to give him as much rest as possible while they close out the regular season.
Here is our PRO Report's pick ahead of an intriguing late-night battle between the Suns and Blazers.
Suns vs. Trail Blazers PRO Report Pick
Our NBA PRO Report has tracked sharp money hitting the road underdog.
Portland originally opened as a 12.5-point underdog before the line ballooned up to 13.5, but it's now residing at 13. Of all wagers placed, 52% are on the Suns, while 69% of the money is being bet on Phoenix.
But we've tracked multiple sharp movements on the other side of the spread.
To sweeten the deal, our NBA projections have estimated this line should be Portland +10.4, meaning you can get a solid 4.6% edge on the actual number in this contest.
The Trail Blazers aren't the most inspiring team, but the PRO Report sees value in them covering the number here.
PRO Report Pick: Trail Blazers +13
