The Lakers will look to avenge a loss last week to the Kings in triple overtime when they play in Sacramento on Tuesday night.
Despite 50 minutes, 30 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds from LeBron James, the Lakers dropped the ball after 3OTs against this below-average Kings squad last Friday.
James missed the game-winning three pointer to push the game into overtime. Then, with the Lakers leading by five with just over a minute to go, the Kings scored five unanswered to tie the game.
A Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis pick-and-roll put the Lakers up two, but Buddy Hield hit a beautiful fadeaway to send the game into double overtime.
D'Aaron Fox and LeBron James traded buckets down the stretch in double overtime to bring it to a third. Then, the Kings finally took over and sealed the deal.
Despite that result, the sportsbooks have this one priced at Kings +4.
That's because the Kings' advanced metrics aren't great. They're 14th in points per 100 possessions and in the bottom 10 in total defense. Sacramento sit at 8-13 straight up on the season, including 9-12 against the spread. The Kings have only covered while losing one time this season.
But, the Lakers are a worse 7-15 against the spread this season — including 3-11 as favorites. The advanced metrics are far more kind to them and, of course, they have two of the best players in the league on their side.
A note that for Tuesday night's game, James is questionable but is still expected to play. Likewise, Davis is probable but is still expected to suit up.
