Happy Sunday! After winning two out of three props Saturday night, we look to make it two-for-two tonight as this NBA slate only features five games in the evening. These props stood out the most as both players are in a great spot.
We'll be using the Action Labs Player Prop tool to compare our NBA projections to the props posted at a variety of sportsbooks. Below, I have laid out two prop bets that I'm playing, the case for each bet and the best books to find odds on those player props.
NBA Player Props & Picks
Reggie Jackson, Over 6.5 Assists (-155)
Rockets vs. Clippers | Clippers -6.5 |
Time | TV | 7 p.m. ET | NBA League Pass |
Best Book | DraftKings |
Despite playing without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George for most of the season, the Los Angeles Clippers have a .500 record with a great chance to go above that mark as they hit the road to take on the Houston Rockets.
These two teams met right before the All-Star break and the Clippers won convincingly, 142-111. Reggie Jackson posted a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds while only playing 26 minutes in the 31-point blowout.
Jackson has thrived dishing out assists lately. He has recorded eight or more assists in five of his last six games. During that time he is averaging 8.8 assists per game with his high of 14 coming against this Rockets team.
The Rockets are a terrible defensive team. They rank last in Defensive Rating and first in Pace. They allow a league-high 118.2 points per game, which is far above the rest of the league. They also allow 25.6 assists per game. Jackson should have his way once again against this awful defense.
There are a few books with this prop juiced at 7.5 assists, which I would take as well. The Clippers are comfortable road favorites and Jackson has been fantastic leading this team from the point guard position. He should feast against this young Rockets backcourt, which may be without Kevin Porter Jr.
CJ McCollum, Over 34.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115)
Lakers vs. Team | Lakers -1 |
Time | TV | 10 p.m. ET | ESPN |
Best Book | DraftKings |
The Pelicans have only won two of their last 11 games, but are one-point underdogs on the road against the Lakers tonight. Despite their poor recent performance, CJ McCollum has been fantastic since joining the Pelicans.
Over the last five games, McCollum is averaging 31.8 points per game while shooting 57.5% from the field and 47.2% from behind the arc. He has a 30.7% usage rate during that time and has been a big boost to the Pelicans' offense.
The Lakers allow their opponents to shoot 90.4 field goals per game, which is the fourth-highest in the league. They also play at the fifth-fastest Pace in the league, allowing 112.3 points per game. Their Defensive Rating drops from 107.8 to 110.6 when Anthony Davis is not in the lineup this season.
This is a great game environment to target McCollum, who should once again be very aggressive. With how well he is playing lately and how close this game is projected to be, McCollum should have no problem getting over this prop. He has averaged 42.8 points, rebounds, and assists in his last five games.
I would take this McCollum prop over 36.5 if it was offered. This is such a great spot against an up-tempo Lakers team that is lacking its best interior defensive player. LeBron James is also questionable to play. McCollum should thrive tonight.
