NBA Player Props for Tuesday, April 8
- Zach Edey Over 9.5 Rebounds (-130)
- Ivica Zubac Over 16.5 Points (-115)
Since Taylor Jenkins was fired, Edey has been unleashed. He's played 27+ minutes in four of five games. He topped 30 minutes for the first time in his career. The lone dud was a 13-minute outing against Boston, where he got into immediate foul trouble and never recovered.
Even with a two-rebound performance against the Celtics, Edey is averaging 12.6 rebounds on 20.2 rebound chances in this stretch. Averaging 20+ rebound chances is rarified air. Only four players are above that mark this season, and they're the most dominant rebounders in the league (Domantas Sabonis, Nikola Jokic, Walker Kessler, Ivica Zubac).
Charlotte has been generous to centers on the glass, allowing the third-most rebounds per game to the position. They've given up the 10th-most rebounds overall since the start of March. The Hornets always have a traditional center on the floor (Mark Williams, Jusuf Nurkic, Taj Gibson, etc.). They don't have a small-ball look that could push Edey to the bench.
Pick: Zach Edey Over 9.5 Rebounds (-130)
This is an excellent matchup for Zubac. San Antonio allows the second-most points per game to centers. They've allowed the 6th-most points in the paint per game since Victor Wembanyama went down.
