Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals gets underway Wednesday as the Miami Heat travel to Boston to take on the Celtics. This is a familiar Eastern Conference finals: These two teams are doing battle in back-to-back years and for the third time over the last four seasons.
The Heat have overcome a home loss in the Play-In Tournament and the No. 1 and No. 5 seed to reach the Conference finals. Despite averaging the fewest points per game in the regular season at 109.8, they find themselves averaging almost four more points per game, and at one point were the highest scoring team this postseason.
The Celtics played a hard-fought Game 7 to cap a come-from-behind series win against the Philadelphia 76ers and find themselves as big home favorites in the opening game of this series.
Here's a look at how I plan on tackling a same-game parlay for Game 1 of Heat vs Celtics.
NBA Same Game Parlay Odds & Pick
The Parlay: (+295)
- Marcus Smart Over 5.5 Assists (+115)
- Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points (-110)
Marcus Smart Over 5.5 Assists
Smart has not put up huge assist numbers thus far in the postseason. Despite that, he's still contributing with big minutes and has a 20.7% Usage Rate playing an average of 33.8 minutes of game time. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have played more minutes.
When it comes to assists, Smart is averaging 5.1, down from his regular season assist average of 6.3. Looking into the past few head-to-head games against the Heat in the regular season, Smart has logged eight or more assists in three of their last four meetings.
Similar numbers have come up in the postseason as well, including games with 12 and seven assists respectively in the opening two games of the playoff series last season.
Although the over/under is not set very high for this matchup, the Celtics ranked in the top 10 in assists per game and over their past few head-to-head's against the Heat, have shot the ball particularly well. Look for Smart to use this game to continue to play-make and find the open man.
Jaylen Brown Over 24.5 Points
Brown has had some big games against the Heat throughout his career. Looking back into the last few head-to-heads, Brown has at least 26 points in five straight regular season contests and he shot above 50% from the floor in all but one game. There have been times throughout that stretch where he's gotten hot from beyond the arc as well, logging five made 3-point shots in two of the last four meetings in the regular season.
As far as playoff stats go, Brown has had that same consistency averaging 23.7 points per game in the postseason against the Heat. He's in a good spot to once again continue his offensive success especially with the elevated points total from Tatum. With how well Brown has been playing, he looks primed for a big shooting night. Take over his points total of 24.5.
