We've only one game on tap Wednesday evening: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics Game 2. The series opener saw a stunning display from James Harden who put up 45 points for the Sixers en-route to a 119-115 victory as double-digit road underdogs.
What's most impressive was the 76ers doing all of this without newly crowned MVP Joel Embiid in the lineup.
As of Wednesday morning, Joel Embiid is expected to play barring any pre-game setbacks and Marcus Smart is questionable with a chest injury. Regardless of Embiid's status, the Celtics are still huge favorites as they look to even up the series and look to be in a perfect spot to do so. Let's get into the same game parlay I'm targeting for 76ers vs Celtics Game 2.
NBA Same Game Parlay Odds & Pick
The Parlay: (+248)
- Tobias Harris Over 5.5 Rebounds (-130)
- Marcus Smart Over 5.5 Assists (-102)
Tobias Harris Over 5.5 Rebounds
Tobias Harris has quietly put up some good numbers this postseason scoring 15 or more points in all five playoff games. His field goal attempts are way up from 11.4 in the regular season to 15.2 in the postseason and despite that he's still shooting extremely well: 55% from the floor and 52% from beyond the arc.
Aside from his efficient shooting, another part of his game that is up in the playoffs is rebounding. Harris has logged 12 rebounds twice already both in the earlier round against the Brooklyn Nets, but could have another big rebounding night.
He's particularly active on both sides of the floor and contributes to the 76ers with big minutes. Thus far, he's played 32 or more minutes in four of five postseason games. Being active on the floor and getting in quality minutes usually leads to some extra opportunities to secure some boards. Look for Harris to take advantage of that. (Note: This line was originally set at 6.5 (-111) before the Joel Embiid news, but I still like Harris over 5.5 boards.)
Marcus Smart Over 5.5 Assists
The Celtics really like to space the floor and share the ball. In the regular season they ranked seventh in assists per game as a team and were led by Marcus Smart, who ranked 17th in the Association in assists per game at 6.3.
Smart tallied seven assists through 35 minutes in Game 1 against the 76ers. There were stretches throughout the second half where the Celtics really struggled to score, which I ultimately think lowered his number of assists (Smart had 11 potential assists in Game 1, per NBA Advanced Stats).
With his health at less than 100% and his field goal attempts way down over the last three contests, look for Smart to play the facilitator role much more in this game. He looks primed for a big night of stuffing the stat sheet and dishing out dimes as the Celtics will be very tough to slow down offensively as they look to even up the series.
Pick: Harris o5.5 REB + Smart o5.5 AST Parlay (+248) |
