  • The New York Knicks opened at 16-1 to win the 2020 NBA Championship at Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.
  • Knicks are currently 1,000-1 to win NBA title, tied with the Wizards, Thunder, Hornets and Cavaliers for the worst odds in the NBA.

The 2019-20 NBA regular season will be exactly 20 years since the last time the New York Knicks advanced past the second round of the playoffs. In the 19 seasons since making the Eastern Conference Finals in 2000, New York has made the playoffs five times, winning a total of nine playoff games.

When the 2020 title odds opened at Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook back in early May, the Knicks were listed at an extremely optimistic 16-1, which was ranked sixth in the NBA.

According to Sports Odds History, New York hasn't been that short since it was listed at 14-1 during the 2013 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers.

On the first night of free agency, Kevin Durant signed a 4-year, $164M maximum contract with the Brooklyn Nets moving New York's odds from 100-1 to 200-1 to win the 2020 title.

Even with New York's use of their $70M in cap space on effective role players on small contracts, including Bobby Portis, Julius Randle, Wayne Ellington, Reggie Bullock, Elfrid Payton and Taj Gibson, the Knicks fluctuated between 100-1 and 200-1 to win the title at Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook before the dominoes of free agency really came to an end.

As of now, the Knicks are listed at 1,000-1 to win it all, the worst odds in the NBA, tied with the Wizards, Thunder, Hornets and Cavaliers.

Let's take a look at how New York's title odds have fallen so fast …
