LeBron James and his son, Bronny, checked in together during the second quarter of the Lakers’ Tuesday-night opener against the Timberwolves and became the first father-son duo to simultaneously take the floor in a regular-season NBA game.
The Lakers wound up winning — and so did bettors who took the under on various Bronny-centric props at FanDuel and DraftKings. The rookie finished with a stat line of 0 points, one rebound and 0 assists in three minutes of floor time, during which he narrowly missed a 3-pointer that would have netted an assist for his dad.
FanDuel offered both pre-game and live markets for Bronny, including over/under 1.5 points, to record 2+ Assists, to record 2+ Rebounds, to record 1+ Threes, to record 2+ Threes and to score 5+ Points. These Bronny markets were, according to a FanDuel spokesperson, more popular than props involving the three Olympic gold medalists participating in the game: LeBron, Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards.
Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a Bronny vs. Ohtani prop wherein a bettor could wager on whether Bronny will score more points Tuesday than Ohtani will hit homers Friday?https://t.co/UauddhEG6Z

DraftKings offered several similar “Bronny Specials,” including how many points he and his dad — who finished with 16 in a relatively quiet effort — would combine to score. Of these, only “Bronny James 1+ Rebounds” cashed. Combined, the Bronny Specials were the seventh-most bet among individual props for the game, trailing the handle for LeBron’s individual point total, which ranked fourth.
The Lakers will next host the Phoenix Suns at home on Friday night, which happens to be when Major League Baseball’s Dodgers will host Game 1 of the World Series a short drive away in Chavez Ravine. In other words, this provides sportsbooks another opportunity to offer a Bronny vs. Ohtani prop that would allow bettors to wager on whether Bronny will score more points than Shohei will hit homers.
