I was surprised to see the Magic at just -1 here to open. Even if Jaren Jackson Jr comes back, it is likely that he is at least on some sort of minutes restriction. The Magic are fully healthy outside of Jonathan Isaac and should be well-rested after a blowout on Tuesday and a double digit win last night.
I don’t like the way this Grizzlies team looks right now and prefer to back the Magic at this price, especially now that we're getting the point.

Magic vs. Grizzlies NBA Preview
The Magic offense has looked great through the first two games, averaging 126.8 points per 100 possessions while ranking top-10 in effective field goal %, offensive rebound rate, and turnover %. This looks like a much improved offense, as they’ve done this against two defenses that project to be decent defenses.
This should be another good matchup for them assuming Jaren Jackson Jr. remains out. Memphis has struggled defensively despite playing a softer schedule of Utah and Houston in their first two games. They are dead-last in defensive rebound rate and 27th in FT rate allowed through two games. Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero have great matchups here as the Grizzlies lack quality wing defenders and rim-protectors when JJJ is out. I’d expect these two to be able to get to the rim at will here.
The Grizzlies desperately need JJJ, as they are allowing about 120 points per 100 possessions in their first two games. They barely escaped with a win against a weak Utah team and then get blown out by a young Rockets squad. They are allowing an offensive rebound rate of 43.3% to their opponents, which could be an issue against this physical Magic squad.
On the flip side of the ball, Ja Morant will draw a tough matchup here as he will likely see Jalen Suggs on defense. Suggs is undeniably one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA and should make it hard on Morant for the entire night. Look for the Grizzlies to rely on their 3-point shooting here as the Magic do a very good job of taking away the paint. The Grizzlies won their opener in part because they were able to generate 44% of their shots from three. They converted on 39% of those looks, with guys like Santi Aldama, Jay Huff, and Desmond Bane making big contributions.
They are going to need their bench to contribute here if they want to keep pace with this explosive Magic squad.
