Three games take place across the Association tonight all on the West Coast. The biggest spread of the night comes from the latest game as the lowly Detroit Pistons travel to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers to start a six-game road trip out West.

The Clippers are near double-digit favorites as they look to rebound after a hard fought 103-101 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night. They will once again be shorthanded for this matchup with Kawhi Leonard out and Luke Kennard doubtful. The more important news to monitor is the status of Paul George who is questionable with a hand injury.

As for the Pistons, they have lost four straight contests and things don't get any easier as they embark week-long road trip. They too will be without a key player in Isaiah Stewart who is out for the next few weeks.

With that as the backdrop, there's a first half bet and player prop that have my interest in this game.

The Parlay: (+240)

  • LA Clippers -5.5 First Half Spread (-115)
  • Marcus Morris Sr. Over 15.5 Points (-120)

Pistons vs. Clippers Same Game Parlay

Clippers First Half Spread -5.5 (-115)

Detroit enters this contest ranked 26th on offense scoring 108.0 points per 100 possessions. Along with their offensive struggles, their defense has done them no favors allowing 117.6 per 100, which is last in the NBA by a full point — the Spurs are at 116.6.

On the offensive end, they have gotten out to very slow starts, especially on the road. The Pistons surrender an average of 61 first half points per game along with the early struggles to score. This is the exact opposite of the Clippers, who give up the fourth-fewest first half points per game at 54.8, and the fewest in the first quarter.

Expect a quick start out of L.A. even with some uncertainty surrounding George. I'll back the Clippers to cover the first half spread at -5.5.

Marcus Morris Sr. Over 15.5 Points (-120)

Marcus Morris Sr. has some huge games against the Pistons as of late logging 31 and 33 points respectively in two of their last three head-to-head games. In the 33 point scoring contest, Paul George was in the lineup, but Kawhi Leonard was out.

Most recently, the Clippers were without their top two scorers in George and Leonard, and Morris took advantage of the extra usage, going 10-of-19 from the floor, draining three shots from beyond the arc, and contributing with a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

At this point through 13 games, Morris Sr. is averaging a career high in field goal percentage at 51.3% from the floor, and is in a prime spot to keep his hot shooting going against the worst defense in the NBA.
