The Detroit Pistons (23-21) and Orlando Magic (23-23) will meet in the NBA tonight. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. EST from the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. The game will broadcast live on NBA League Pass.

The Magic are 3-point favorites over the Pistons on the spread (Magic -3), with the over/under set at 209.5 total points. Orlando is a -150 favorite to win outright, while Detroit is +125 to pull off the upset.

Let's get into my Pistons vs. Magic predictions and NBA picks for Saturday, January 25.

Moneyline

My main pick for this matchup is on the Magic to cover the spread. However, I will also be taking Orlando moneyline as part of my same game parlay.

I'm staying away from the total in tonight's contest.

Pistons vs. Magic Preview

You can keep your Wolves and Nuggets, your Celtics and Mavericks, your Lakers and Warriors. True NBA sickos (and betting sickos) love a good Pistons-Magic matchup on a Saturday. Let's find some value as Detroit takes on Orlando.

The Magic have been struggling to stay afloat. They got trounced in Franz Wagner’s return vs. a tanking Blazers team. Not the best look. It’s tough for Orlando to find ways to score.

But that was the first game with Wagner back, and that’s always a good fade spot for teams. When you add a high-usage player that you haven’t played with in some time, there’s an adjustment curve.

On the other hand, the Magic are getting back another major contributor as Jalen Suggs has been upgraded to questionable and is expected to play. This season when Suggs plays at home, Orlando is 12-4 straight up and 11-5 ATS. How about this? Since last season, when Wagner, Banchero, and Suggs all play in Orlando, the Magic are 30-8 SU, 27-11 ATS including the playoffs.

Pretty, pretty good.

Meanwhile, the Pistons are great on the road this season, 10-8 SU and 12-5-1 as road dogs, but are just 3-9 straight up vs. top-10 defenses this season, per Cleaning The Glass.

I lean to the under because this number is all the way down to 210 and I make it 212, but with Orlando being better than 65% to the under in home games, and this being two teams top-15 in defense with mediocre offenses, and Suggs being back, I’m not brave enough to go for it.

I do like Orlando here, though. With Suggs’ return and the Magic back at full strength, I’ll go with the Magic to cover the -3.5.

We can build on that, though.

Suggs primarily guarded Jaden Ivey who is out with injury the last two seasons. With him out, he’ll take assignments on Ausar Thompson and Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Magic scheme is great at containing pick and roll scorers and making them take jumpers, denying easy passes. Orlando, in particular, is elite at denying kickouts and limiting spot-up three-point attempts and making ball-handlers try and score.

Cade Cunningham, though, is great at just that.

So if we take Magic ML, Ausar Thompson under 1.5 3-point makes, Cade under 8.5 assists, and Cade 20+ points, we get to a SGP of +375 on a solid game script. That’s my SGP for Pistons-Magic.

Best Bet: Magic -3 (-110)
