Colorado gaming regulators have ordered sportsbooks to report any sportsbook accounts owned or operated by Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter in the state.
Porter is on leave and under investigation from the NBA after sportsbooks detected unusual irregular betting activity regarding his prop bets. According to reports, the activity stemmed from games against the Clippers (Jan. 26) and Kings (March 20) where unders on his player props were heavily steamed.
Colorado gaming regulators are investigating whether Porter had accounts with any of the sportsbooks in the states and if he placed wagers on NBA and NBA-affiliated games, ESPN reported on Friday.
Action Network has reached out multiple times to the Colorado Division of Gaming over the past couple of weeks to confirm whether they are investigating Porter's betting activity. Each time, they've refused to comment.
ESPN also said the Colorado Division of Gaming refused to comment, but that it acquired the directive through a back channel.
In a recent press conference, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver called Porter's alleged activity a "cardinal sin" and said it could result in banishment from the league.
"I highly doubt he would do anything to put that in jeopardy," Porter's brother, Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., said when asked about Jontay's situation.
Jontay spent time on the Nuggets' summer league team in 2022. Outside of that, he hasn't been on any Colorado-based teams since leaving the University of Missouri in 2019. The other brother, Corbin, spent time on the University of Denver basketball team.
The three brothers are known to be very close, which is why Colorado gaming could be specifically interested in Porter's activity.
