Spurs vs. Rockets Preview

The Spurs and Rockets will clash in a battle for the Lone Star State tonight. It will be the 219th head-to-head matchup between these Western Conference opponents. The Spurs lead the all-time series 119-99, but Houston leads 2-1 the series this year.

San Antonio enters this contest with a record of 24-32, enough for 13th in the West. The Spurs, who trail the final play-in spot by 4.5 games, have struggled lately. Their last win came on February 20th against the Phoenix Suns, and they've lost three straight games and seven of their last ten.

They received bad news earlier in the week when 21-year-old superstar Victor Wembanyama was announced to miss the rest of the season due to deep vein thrombosis. Wemby led the Spurs with 24.3 points per game and 11.0 rebounds and was the overwhelming betting favorite to win NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

Veteran De'Aaron Fox leads the Spurs with 21.0 points per game and 7.2 assists since joining the team, while Devin Vassell has averaged 15.4 points per game and 2.8 assists. Rookie Stephon Castle has added 12.5 points and 3.4 assists.

Houston has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA this season. Having posted a 41-41 record last season, the Rockets come into this game with a 36-22 record, the fifth-best record in the West.

Head Coach Ime Udoka has done as good of a job as any coach in basketball this season. With a home win tonight, Udoka and the Rockets will leapfrog the Los Angeles Lakers into fourth in the West. However, Houston has struggled lately, losing six of its last 10 games. This could complicate its plans to reach the postseason for the first time since 2020.

Former second-overall pick Jalen Green leads the Rockets with 21.6 points per game, while big man Alperen Sengun has averaged a double-double with 19.1 points and 10.5 rebounds. Veteran Fred VanVleet has added 14.6 points and 5.8 assists but has not played since February 1 and is listed as questionable tonight.

The Spurs have averaged 112.6 points per game, while Houston is at 112.7 points per game. I feel the Spurs will do enough on offense to stay competitive and within the number tonight. So, we will team up with our Action Pro Report for this play.

Our Pro Report sets this spread at 6.1 points in favor of the Rockets.

Best Bet: Spurs +9.5 (-115)

Spurs vs. Rockets Parlay Picks

De'Aaron Fox 25+ Points

I'm also looking at De'Aaron Fox for 25+ Points. He has struggled in his last two games, combing for 28 points.

However, tonight is a tremendous buy-low spot on Fox, who had scored 25 points or more in three of four games before the two-game drought.

Alperen Sengun Over 10.5 Rebounds

Lastly, take a look at Alperen Sengun for Over 10.5 Rebounds.

The big man has been on a roll against this number lately, grabbing 11 or more rebounds in five of his last six games.

Our Action Pro report projects 12.35 rebounds from Sengun tonight.

Same Game Parlay Picks

  • Spurs +9
  • De'Aaron Fox 25+ Points
  • Alperen Sengun Over 10.5 Rebounds

Parlay Payout: +400
