Phoenix Suns vs Boston Celtics NBA Preview

The Phoenix Suns are set to face off against the Boston Celtics on Friday night as they cling to a Play-In Dream. Can the Celtics start to put them out of their misery or will Phoenix hang on to hope?

The Celtics have listed Jaylen Brown (knee) as Questionable for this game while the Suns will continue to be without Kevin Durant (ankle). The Suns are just 2-12 this season without Durant, so this makes an already uphill battle even more difficult.

The Suns have been abysmal this season with one of the worst defenses in the NBA. They have an Adjusted Net Rating of -1.9 which is 20th in the league, per Dunks and Threes. They simply cannot stop anyone defensively and without Durant on the floor the team drops off to -5.1 points per 100 possessions, per Cleaning the Glass.

The Celtics have not been a great team ATS this season and are just 15-22 ATS as a home favorite. However, Boston just destroyed the Suns a few weeks ago putting up 132 points on them. Now that Boston is fairly healthy, they should be able to continue taking care of business as they ramp up to the Playoffs.

Boston is clearly the better team right now, and without Durant, the Suns will struggle in this matchup. While the Celtics should be able to cover, I think much of it will be because the Suns cannot stop them defensively. I'll expect a flurry of points and grab over 226.5.

For my same game parlay, I'll take Kristaps Porzingis 15+ Points, Jayson Tatum 3+ Three-Pointers Made, and Devin Booker 5+ Assists for a potential payout of +120.
