This article contains predictions for an old game.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (46-33) will visit the Memphis Grizzlies (47-32) for a pivotal matchup in the Western Conference playoff race tonight. Tipoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET at FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee. The game will broadcast live on TNT.

The Timberwolves are 2.5-point favorites over the Grizzlies on the spread (Timberwolves -2.5), with the over/under set at 230.5 total points. Minnesota is a -135 favorite to win outright, while Memphis is +110 to pull off the upset.

Let's get into my Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies predictions and NBA picks for Thursday, April 10.

Timberwolves vs Grizzlies Prediction, Picks

Spread

There are differing opinions regarding this game. You could find the Timberwolves anywhere from -1.5-point favorites to +1.5-point underdogs in the betting market throughout the day. Memphis narrowly won both meetings this season by a total of four points, and recently, we're starting to see a trend of the Grizzlies having to recover from slow starts in the first half.

Moneyline

I like the Timberwolves as short favorites in the first half here, with BetMGM offering the best price at -115.

Over/Under

Since both teams are chasing a top-six finish, this game should have all the intensity of a playoff atmosphere. As a result, I would lean to the game finishing under the total of 233 points.

My Pick: Timberwolves First Half Moneyline (-115)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Memphis Grizzlies NBA Preview

You can just about slide a sheet of paper between the teams as I have them fifth and sixth in my power ratings, with Minnesota slightly ahead of Memphis. Although the Grizzlies enter this matchup on a three-game winning streak, they're 3-3 since firing Taylor Jenkins as their head coach.

As a result, there's a feeling of instability with this Memphis team that gives me enough reason to fade them as a side. Couple that with losing Jayen Wells (wrist) at the forward position, and our reasoning becomes even stronger. Wells featured in all 79 Grizzlies' games thus far, starting in 74.

If that's not enough, the Grizzlies now face the difficult task of trying to complete a season sweep against the Timberwolves. The two previous meetings were also very competitive, with the Timberwolves having the biggest lead in each of them before letting things slip away in the fourth quarter.

There's plenty of chaos surrounding Memphis at the moment, and much of it is self-inflicted, from the shocking firing of Jenkins with just nine games remaining in the season to Ja Morant blatantly defying the NBA commissioner by swapping out his gun-finger celebrations and opting to mimic a grenade toss into the crowd.

Clearly, Memphis seems to be focused on things other than simply playing basketball on the court. In their last 10 home games, the Grizzlies went just 2-8 against the first-half moneyline. Thus, given their recent vulnerability early on in games and now having to play without their starting forward, the Timberwolves offer a ton of value in this spot.

To build our same-game parlay, I'll also look to combine the Timberwolves first half moneyline with Minnesota's Donte DiVincenzo exceeding his points+rebounds+assists (PRA) prop of 19.5.

DiVincenzo has gone over this line in eight of his last 10 road games and should have plenty of confidence, considering he finished with at least 40 PRAs in his previous two meetings against the Grizzlies. Moreover, DiVincenzo has covered this number in three straight games against Memphis.

The Villanova product helps stretch the court for Minnesota by offering a perimeter threat, and Memphis allows the fifth-most 3-point field goals (14.3).

DiVincenzo shoots 39.4% from beyond the arc, and given his success in this matchup, it wouldn't surprise me if he sees a bit more playing time as the Timberwolves try to avoid the sweep.
