Portland Trail Blazers vs New York Knicks Knicks NBA Preview
A few nights ago, the Knicks defeated the Bucks 116-107 in Milwaukee. They have now won three of their last games, but received even better news than just the victory. All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson has returned to practice and is getting close to a return. He will remain out for today's game, but the Knicks have been able to hold down the fort without him.
The Knicks are 6-5 since Brunson last took the floor. They still hold a 3.5-game lead over the Pacers for the third seed in the Eastern Conference. They have been able to replace his production in a multitude of ways.
Fellow All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns has scored 30 points in three of his last six games. Swiss-Army knife Josh Hart has a double-double in six of his last 12 games, including two triple-doubles. Tyler Kolek has even seen more minutes of late at the point. The rookie has 29 assists against just one turnover in his past four games.
The Knicks will go for the season sweep of the Trail Blazers tonight. They won the first meeting 114-113 in memorable fashion on a game-winning three by Mikal Bridges. The loss was a potential back-breaker for the Trail Blazers, who enter tonight's game four games back off the final spot in the Play-In Tournament with just 10 games remaining.
Portland enters tonight's game on a three-game losing streak and has lost all three games against the spread as well. That has not been the norm as Portland is 41-32-1 ATS this season. Tonight, it will be shorthanded in the backcourt with Scoot Henderson out (concussion protocol) and Anfernee Simons questionable (right forearm).
Despite Bridges' game-winning shot, the Under hit by one point in the last meeting. However, 227 points would comfortably clear tonight's game. Four of the last six meetings between these teams have had at least 221 points. The Over is also 4-0 in Portland's last four games and 3-0-1 in the Knicks. Should those trends continue, tonight's game will clear the Over as well.
Meanwhile, Towns has scored 23 points in eight of his last 10 games. Hart had 11 rebounds and nine assists against his former team in the last meeting. I'll back him for six assists tonight, which he has cleared in eight of his last ten games.
Kolek has played at least 17 minutes in each of his last four games, which has helped him record five assists in all four games as well. Towns scoring with Hart and Kolek playmaking will contribute to this game going Over and cash this same-game parlay.
