Golden State Warriors vs Dallas Mavericks NBA Preview

There is always a ton of nostalgia involved when Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are on the same court. The trio won four championships together over the last 10 years before Thompson departed last offseason. In two games against his former team this season, Thompson has averaged 25.5 points per game and knocked down 13 triples. This time the series shifts to Dallas.

Those first two meetings featured 237 and 276 points, but tonight’s game will look quite different. Luka Doncic is no longer a factor in this matchup but Jimmy Butler is. The Jimmy Butler era has gone swimmingly for the Warriors thus far as they are 2-0 while scoring 132 and 125 points in those games.

Butler has averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and five assists in his first two games as a Warrior. He has also gotten to the free throw line 28 times and free throw rate has been an issue for Golden State this season. With Butler thriving as a second option, Curry has had more room to operate as well.

Curry had scored 30 points in the two games prior to the Butler trade and that streak has since extended to four. In that span, he is averaging 35.2 points per game, but the efficiency has improved over his last two games. Curry will look to stay hot before serving as the unofficial All-Star Game host this weekend.

Despite their last two wins, Golden State has allowed 27 points to Coby White and 38 to Damian Lillard. Kyrie Irving will look to match them. He has scored 20 points in seven consecutive games against Golden State, including 38, 32, and 26 points in his last three games against the Warriors without Doncic.

The Over is 6-2 in the last eight regular season meetings between these teams. Four of those games have cleared 233 points as well. Additionally, the Over is 8-2 in both the Warriors and Mavericks' last 10 games as well.

Ironically, Dallas traded Doncic to get better defensively. However, in the five games since the trade, Dallas is 28th in defensive rating. That number likely will not improve as Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, and Dereck Lively II are all out.

However, Dallas will still have offensive firepower to keep up with Golden State with Irving, Thompson, Max Christie, and potentially P.J. Washington, who is questionable.

Meanwhile, for tonight's game same game parlay, I am going with four players who likely be in the Hall of Fame once their playing days are down.

Curry has scored 25 points in four of his last five games against the Mavericks while Butler has scored 20 points in each of his first two games since joining the Warriors.

Irving has scored 25 points in four of his last six games. Thompson has knocked down three triples in six of his last eight games.

Additionally, he has attempted at least six 3s in seven of those games. If we get this same-game parlay, the game will likely go Over as well.
