Golden State Warriors vs Phoenix Suns NBA Preview

With Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green in the lineup, the Warriors are 19-3. Unfortunately for them, one of those losses came on Sunday, a 106-96 defeat to the Rockets. The game had playoff physicality and intensity, which means you would expect that Draymond Green was right in the middle of it.

In the loss, Curry was held to three points on 1-for-10 from the field, his lowest of the season when playing 30+ minutes. He had entered the game with three consecutive games with 30 points or more. He will have a good chance to bounce back against the Suns' porous defense.

The Warriors enter tonight's game one of five teams in the Western Conference with 32 losses. Thanks to tiebreakers, they currently hold the sixth seed and would avoid the Play-In Tournament.

After a disappointing regular season, getting back into the Play-In Tournament would be a success for the Suns at this point. They have lost their last six games and Kevin Durant has been out for the last three. Durant will be out once again with a left ankle sprain.

Time is running out for him to return this season, and the Suns are 2.5 games back of the 10th seed. Without his running mate, Devin Booker has taken on the scoring load with at least 28 points in each of his last four games and 37 or more in the last three.

Not only have the Suns lost six games in a row, but they have lost them all by double digits and an average margin of 19.6 points. Tonight, the Warriors only need to win by 10 points to get us a cover. Prior to Sunday's loss, the Warriors had won five games in a row and three of them were by 14 points or more and another by nine points. They are 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games.

The Warriors are sixth in defensive rating over their last 15 games and they could make tonight very difficult for Booker despite his high usage rate. Booker has recorded eight assists just in one of his five games and in two of his last 10 games without Durant. Additionally, if there is a Warriors blowout tonight, he may be sitting in the fourth quarter.

Curry, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski should contribute to a Warriors victory tonight. Curry has scored at least 20 points in each of his last seven games against the Suns. Kuminga has pulled down five rebounds in three of his last five games, with at least seven rebounds in the games where he’s gone over five.

Meanwhile, Podziemski has scored at least 14 points in eight of his last 10 games. However, he has stuffed the stat sheet with five rebounds in six straight games and four assists in three straight games. As a result, he has recorded 25 PRA in four of his last five games. He has gotten there with just points in three of those games.
