You may have noticed there are no NBA games on the slate today.
That could seem like a tremendous oversight for a season just starting to get into full swing, but it is actually planned.
You should not expect to see NBA games on the first Tuesday of November in the future because the first Tuesday of November is Election Day in the United States.
Although it is not a presidential year, there are still various smaller elections on the ballot. As a result, the NBA wants to encourage its players, staff members and fans to vote.
In 2022, the NBA decided to not have any games scheduled on Election Day.
“The league will continue to encourage fans and the broader NBA community to make a plan to vote and participate in the civic process,” the NBA said before the season. “As part of this initiative, the NBA will share important resources from voting organizations and highlight the civic engagement work of teams in their markets.”
There are three planned days off for the NBA this season as Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve also will not feature NBA games.
Wednesday will be a massive day in the NBA as there are 14 games scheduled with 28 teams in action.
Although there are no NBA games, there are still plenty of sports in action on Tuesday night. There are 10 NHL games, it's the second day of the college basketball season, and there are three college football MACtion games.
