The Ivy League Tournament will be the last conference tourney to tipoff when it does so on Saturday morning.
That's because only four of the eight teams in the conference make the final dance.
The Ivy League became the last conference in Division-I college basketball to implement a tournament. The Ivies only did so in 2017 — prior to that, the regular season winner represented the conference in the NCAA Tournament.
Since then, the top-four regular season finishers face off over one weekend to decide the conference champion.
Two No. 1 seeds and a No. 2 seed have won since the new rules were enacted.
The regular season champion gets an automatic spot in the NIT if they lose during the conference tournament.
This season, Princeton is the favorite among oddsmakers to make March Madness at -125.
The Tigers are also by far the highest ranked team, according to the advanced metrics. KenPom has Princeton as the 103rd-best team in college basketball — next-highest is Yale at No. 149.
Fittingly, Yale has the second-shortest odds to win the conference at +260.
Princeton split its season series with Yale this season, with each team winning on the road.
The conference tournament starts when Princeton faces Cornell on Saturday at 11 a.m. ET.
