Norfolk State snapped North Carolina Central's three-year MEAC Conference Tournament title run with a win last year. The market is expecting the Spartans to get the job done yet again when the tourney tips off on Wednesday, March 8.
Robert Jones' guys aren't as chalky as, say, the America East — Vermont closed as a -700 favorite in its conference tournament — but at -250, the Spartans are clear odds-on favorites.
Norfolk State (21-6, 12-2) was the only MEAC program with more than 20 wins on the season. The Spartans are the No. 1 seed in the tournament, followed by Howard, NCCU and Morgan State to round out the top four.
The Spartans also helped bettors out plenty in 2021-22, finishing with the best record against the spread in the MEAC at 15-8-1. That 65.2% mark tied for the 11th-best ATS record in the entire nation.
On the contrary, No. 8-seeded Delaware State didn't win a single game in conference and is naturally priced as the biggest betting long shot.
